Video game characters. Let me tell you, there are quite a lot out there who everyone hates for good reason. I already did a whole list about my hated ones. They are all hated for being horribly uncreative, terrible to be around, or just no geral, global douchebags. But, what about those video game characters that you feel gets a lot of undeserved hate. I mean, there are just some of those video game character that I see get so much hate, yet, I wonder, what is so bad about them. So, today, we will be looking at ten overhated video game characters. Rules, as usual. Only games that I have played, and only one per franchise. Also, if I like a character you hate, please be mature about it, okay. Now, with that said, let us start this list.
#10: Ashley from Resident Evil 4
Wow, I just started, and already, I have a very controversial opinion. Now, everyone loves Resident Evil 4. I amor Resident Evil 4, you amor Resident Evil 4, your uncle’s cousin’s husband’s pet cat loves Resident Evil 4. But I have yet to meet a single person who can stand Ashley. Now, this is easily a very unpopular choice, and even I don’t like Ashley all that much. This is usually because whenever she is low on health, I try to lure her away from dangerous enemies, yet she just chooses to crouch in that one spot and she dies and I have to do the entire room all over again jesus CHRIST, GET UP ASHLEY! However, this only bothered me once throughout the entire game. I did try my hardest throughout the game, and since I was usually getting headshots, since I am just a headshot pro (Apologise, that hurt me as bad as it did you), I rarely heard her shout Leon constantly. Sure, she can be very annoying, but through my playthrough, I didn’t have much trouble.
#9: Mr. Dream from Punch-Out
The hatred for this character is one I never understood. I mean, sure, he was the one who replaced Mike Tyson in later released of the game, and that might have been a disappointment, but all he is is a different skin change. Is it the difficulty why people hate him so much? Well, that can’t be true, because Mr. Dream is just a recoloured Mike Tyson. He is just as difficult, yet I hear no one hating on Mike Tyson, so why Mr. Dream. Honestly, I never understand why people hate him so much. Sure, he may not be much, but, hey, he’s an NES character. You couldn’t do too much back then.
#8: Waluigi from Super Mario Bros.
Again, another character that I don’t get the hatred towards. Well, okay, I can understand why people hate him a bit mais than Mr. Dream, but still. Waluigi was meant to be the rival to Luigi, much like Wario was the rival to Wario. Yet, people seem to hate him because he is just a useless character and a stupid reason to give Luigi a rival. To which I reply “... Really”. I mean, when you consider the fact that people are okay with Wario, Dark Bowser, and Bone Bowser, and even Mr. l (Who I can’t stand, por the way), you’d think they would be okay with clones of other characters, but when Waluigi steps into the game, everyone suddenly hates him for those reasons. All I can say is that Waluigi really doesn’t deserve all that hate… He doesn’t deserve his own game either, but still.
#7: Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing
Yes, I said it, I am perfectly fine with Mr. Resetti. Now, I know what you’re thinking… Why? Then again, you’ve probably been thinking that throughout this whole list, but let me explain. I am always saving my game, constantly, and never wanting to lose any progress. Yet, Mr. Resetti only appears when you turn off the game before saving. You see where this is going. I rarely ever meet Mr. Resetti whenever I play Animal Crossing. The only time I did was when my 3DS died, and I had to recharge it. Not to mention from watching vídeos online about some Animal Crossing player pissing off Resetti, I won’t lie… His conversation was pretty funny. All I can say is Mr. Resetti is just a working man, and really should be appreciated more. Or maybe players should save the game more, damnit.
#6: (SPOILERS) Dahlia Hawthorne from Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Many people really didn’t like her, and… Well, I can see why. She is a cruel femme fatale, who cares about herself. She caused Terry Fawles to kill himself, tried to kill Phoenix Wright before he became an attorney, and corrupted the body of Misty Fey, Maya’s long lost mother, and tried to kill Maya only to be killed por a certain awesome character that I won’t mention. These all show what makes her a hateable character. Me personally, I see her as a pretty good villain. I mean, come on, she is probably one of the only villains, besides a prosecutor, to make it through mais than one case, and becoming a major part in Trials and Tribulations. Not to mention, her abilities to embrulho, envoltório the entire courtroom around her finger is pretty impressive. Dahlia, you are a cruel heartless person, but I still see you as an awesome villain.
#5: (SPOILERS) Dormin from Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus is not a cheerful game, let me tell you. And the ending does not help at all. In the game, Dormin tells Wander, the protagonist, that in order to save Mano, he must slay sixteen giant colossus, but there would be a price. Right after Wander does this, it shows that Dormin had been using Wander the whole time, and ended up using his body to try and return to the world. People seem to hate Dormin for this, but, come on people. Dormin did warn Wander that killing the Colossi would have consequences. And besides, he did keep his end of the bargain, and revived Mano, so that she and Wander can be together again…. Maybe not in the way Wander intended however, since he is now a baby with horns, but, Mano’s still alive, so there.
#4: Roman from Grand Theft Auto IV
Oh man, this guy. It has become a common joke to GTA fãs to constantly point out how Roman constantly calls you to go bowling, drinking, or to the strip club, not once leaving you alone. Not to mention, he’s a liar and kind of an idiot. While it is true, he is still Niko’s cousin, and he is still a very funny guy at times, always giving off some sort of humorous comment to Niko’s actions. It’s pretty funny if you ask me. Not to mention, Roman is probably the only character in a GTA game who isn’t a murdering psychopath. Imagine that, a GTA character who doesn’t kill people. What blasphemy is this, Rockstar? Oh well, Roman may be annoying at times, but that is completely blocked por how many times he made me laugh.
#3: Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Now, what can be said about Raiden. He appeared in the segundo game, destroying everyone’s expectations, mine included, and basically became the worst character in the series, to which I reply “Really?”. Sure, Raiden may not be Solid Snake, and you all know I amor Solid Snake (In a hetero way, of course). But Raiden is pretty cool too… Kinda. He is still a very strong soldier who believes in helping the country, and his backstory is pretty tragic, making me actually feel bad for him. Oh, and Raiden in Metal Gear Rising is a total badass, so good job there, Konami. Not a lot to say, I just really like Raiden. Also, he has a sword… WHAT THE HELL, SNAKE, WHERE’S YOUR SWORD!?
#2: Navi from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Oh man, everyone hates Navi. And yet I have no idea why? I mean, sure she does constantly say oi and listen a lot, but other than that… is she really so bad? I mean, throughout the game, she was there to guide you, helping you if you got lost, and being a pretty cool sidekick. Besides, who is the one that flies right up to enemies so Link can target them? Navi. Not to mention Navi is also a pretty reliable fairy, and is just so helpful, that I can’t see why so many people hate her so much. Yeah, she can be annoying, but that never bothered me. Navi is easily a very overhated sidekick
#1: Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog
Oh man, this guy. I can not believe how much hate this guy gets from everybody. Robotnik once started out as the main villain to Sonic, like Bowser & Mario. But now, everyone just sees him as a goofy schmuck who can’t do anything right. Throught the beginning of the series, he started out as a pretty threatening villain, and after that, he became really goofy, and after that, he was practically not a villain at all. The fãs just see Robotnik as a poor excuse for a villain that really doesn’t belong. And when I said everyone hates Robotnik, I meant it. Even Sega hates Robotnik, since they replace him with a bunch of other villains. Chaos, Metal Sonic, Mephiles, The Deadly Six, and even the Black Knight and a goddamn Genie. A genie? Are you kidding me, Sega? Robotnik may not be as threatening as he used to be, but I still think he is a pretty cool villain. Making dozens of robots and using them in many interesting ways, like building a clone of Sonic, trying to steal the Master Emerald, Destroying the moon that one time for no real reason, and even screwing with time in Sonic Generations, dammit, Sega. Just make Robotnik the villain again. Just do that. I don’t care how bad your game is, just make Robotnik the villain… And don’t make him look like the 06 Eggman. That was disgusting.
Well, there you have it. Did you enjoy the list? Tell me what you thought of it. With that said, I will see you all seguinte time.
#10: Ashley from Resident Evil 4
