Chapter 6°
Way Too Good At Goodbyes°
"Why don't you give her paper back?" Someone said from across the room, everyone looked up towards the front, there Hayden was, his arms crossed over his chest. He looked annoyed. Annabelle's eyes widened for a moment before she glared at him.
"Stay in your place." She hissed. Hayden walked towards her, the room was dead silent, they were eye level with each other. Hayden glared.
"Don't you have any better things to do than pick on people?" He growled, Annabelle's mouth dropped a bit as she sputtered for a comeback. Never had anyone in their grade stood up to her, Hayden grabbed Chloe's paper and gave it back to Chloe who was in the same amount of shock as everyone else. Before Annabelle could say anything, the teacher walked in.
"Come on class, take your seats... Uh, new kid, Hayden Winston? Yeah, sit seguinte to Chloe, please." The teacher said in the most monotone voice ever. Annabelle was steaming as she walked to her assento and began to crumple a piece of paper. Hayden sat down in the assento seguinte to Chloe, who couldn't help but stare at him.
After a bit, Hayden turned to her, giving her a small smile,
"Why'd you do that?" Chloe blurted out at him, Hayden's smile disappeared for a minuto as he stared at her,
"I hate bullies." His smile returned as he started talking, Chloe barely listening. A million thoughts were running through her head. Her coração felt like it was being squeezed por an icy hand. Someone had once said the same thing to her when she was young. They kept talking, and once the teacher dismissed class and off to lunch they went, she didn't sit alone.

Chloe stumbled to her favorito spot seguinte to the lake, tears running down her face.
She hiccuped and whimpered as she cried softly, laying down on the ground. She stared up at the sky, lost in her own thoughts until she heard footsteps. She didn't have the energy to sit up so she opened her eyes and... To her surprise, there Hayden was.
"There you are, I saw you stumble out of your house, crying... I was worried about you and Sym told me to go follow you because she was busy with homework." He sat down seguinte to her, Chloe turning her head to look at him.
"You saw me?"
"Yep, we're neighbours now, we were trying to tell you this morning but, uh..." he trailed off and looked down at her. He reached over slowly, wiping away a stray tear causing Chloe to flinch. He pulled away quickly and laid down seguinte to her slowly, turning on his side so he could look at her.
"Why won't you open up to me, and talk to me?" He asked quietly.
"Because I'm good at goodbyes, not hellos."
