Rainpaw adjusted in her nest, feeling bone-tired. Why couldn't she fall asleep? She glanced outside. The sky was dark, and Rainpaw guessed that it was a little after midnight. She rose slowly to her paws, careful not to wake anyone and padded slowly out of the den. She spotted Morningshade on guard duty, pacing back and forth with her eyes trained on the dark pine forest that lay beyond the camp.
