Bella and I sat on the log waiting for the Volturi Alice had predicted would come,just the kind thing they would clean up.Carsisle and Esme sat quietly on the end of one of the logs,around the warm fire.Faming hot compared to the tempature of my skin.And still hot compared to Bella's warm tempature of her human,soft skin.Emmett grinning at himself remembering the kill he had,as he took on the strongest he could find.He stared at the flames as the thick smoke went into the air.Rosalie at his side,she had her hand on his arm,her legs crossed,angled toward him.Alice the same with Jasper on a different log.Jasper's hand rubbed roughly againest his arms.New bites on them.And then sat one of the newborns.She looked young,fourteen,fifteen maybe.To young to be a cold one,therefor vampire.I read her thoughts,her name was Bree,she came from seattle.Victoria must have changed her there while the rest of the newborns hunted recklessly.Her eyes bright red with thirst.Her knees infront of her face,rocking back and forth.her hands dug deep into the durt under her.But you could see her fingers nails as they dug back and forth.She was raged with Bella sitting with me.She was maybe four feet away.Bella stared at her.I assumed she wondered why there was a newborn with us. ''She was the last one of them.She stoped fighting.'' i wispered to her.Bella looked at me with suprise. ''Shouldn't we go over there?'' she said.Meaning the farthest log por carsisle and Esme.Bree heard that.She growled at Bella.Jasper snapped a growl back at her.Emmett still dtaring at the fogo burning,grinned.Then new scents came.Scents I knew.The Volturi is here.Carsisle,Emse,Alice,Jasper,Emmett,Rosalie,and even Bree stared at the path leading into the deep forest.Bella looked at the path and back.Confused.I guess,her eyes couldn't see them coming.There thoughts came into my head now.Jane infront.All of them lead to the nearest scent of the thick smoke.They all wore black cloats.Jane her eyes on Bree.She knew us all.All but Bree.Bree wasen't apart of the family.Yet.Carsisle thought's were positive about her.Jane's thought were curious about her.Felix's cloats capuz, capa was on his head.He stared at the fire.Then Emmett.Emmett met his gaze.They both smiled.Esme smiled welcomeingly,aswell as Alice,and Rosalie.Jasper looked up but didn't smile.And continued to rub his arm.Marcus was walking along side with Felix.Jane was now thinking about Aro.Going over a conversation they had about Bella.And how Bella was amune to all gifts.Jane did have a gift.The gift againset mentle attack.Meaning if someone came after them.She could use her gift and basicly,turn your thoughts around.And you would hurt your loves ones.Instead of them.Jane thought about trying it out on Bella.My nostrils flared.I haven't come this far and not keep her safe.She was now.''Please don't do that'' i muttered through my teeth. She laughed halfheartedly.''Just checking.'' She was loking at Bree now.Asking her perguntas about who she was and where she came from.I didn't try to keep up,Until she mentioned who created her and where she was.''So who is creator young one?'' Jane was asking Bree.Bree looked up with angonized eyes.I read her mind.She didn't know.All of the army had always been Riley's responsibility.None of them knew.Ever.
''Her name was Victoria.'' I said to Jane.I tilted my chin toward the thick smoke comeing from the far east,from the fogo where Seth and I burned Riley. ''Hmm.Did she create all of them?''
Jane was asking Bree again.Bree was annoyed and scared.She didn't like to think of it.It was to painful.''I don't know.Sarah and the other girl got in a fight on the way.i can't remember her name.'' Bree's face was down at her knee's now.Rocking rapidly back and forth.Shakeing her head from right to left over and over again.
''Hmm.How many?'' Jane asking Bree.
''Twenty.Well,eighteen.Since Sarah and the other got in a fight...'' Bree answered almost clearly.Clearing her throat,controling the thirst.I read her mind. 'i wish she would stop asking.stop staring at me blondie' she thought.I guessed 'Blondie' was Jasper.He was anxious,tasteing her emotional climate.She was trying to hold back a snarl.
Jane was now looking at me.Then she spoke to Felix but still holding my gaze.
''Finish her.'' Jane said.We all turned to her.The Volturi were not suprised.Carsisle stood,raiseing his arms at elbow level.
''The girl has not been taught.She has not been told the rules.We can help her.She can be one of us.'' Carsisle was trying to save her.But Jane's thought's were clear. 'No matter what,even if not taught,the laws have been broken' Jane thought.Trying not to cave in on Carsisle's sugestion. ''Felix.'' Jane repeated.Slowly turning toward him. ''On it.'' Felix said as he waved his fellow members to go with him.Bree's eyes turned wide.Then i turned to Bella Her eyes the same but with tears. ''Close your eyes.'' i told her quickly.She closed her eyes.I shut mine as well.Covering her ears with my hands.Her head on my shoulder,my head on hers.She hugged me.I felt thoughts going through my head.I thought hard to try to cover them up.Almost impossible,but it worked.Not even I wanted to see nor hear the sound of her cry.I smelled a thick smoke quickly go into the air.Along with the scent of blood...''We are done here'' Jane said.Thats when we all looked up.My entire family had held close and shut there eyes.They all looked up.Esme's standed out though.Her eyes looked they wantd to tear.Carsisle held her close to his chest.Bella staring at the fire.Jane and the rest of the Volturi put on the hoods of the cloats and headed back into the forest to return to Volterra,Italy to tell Aro the story.I held Bella close to me.And took her home.She had seen to much today.And surely needed a good nights sleep...
