Please don't get offeneded but Stephenie being mormon has alot to do with twilight.
Vampire Diaries is different and goes closer to the mythology of vampires. I would suggest watching the show and going on their fã page.

It actually depends on what you like to see. I think Vampire Diaries present mais action and mais drama, especially because there are multiple couples. Vampire Diaries also depicts vampiros and werewolves, etc. in a different light, a mais scarier way, if you will. Twilight is mais romance, Vampire Diaries is drama.

I loved Twilight but then i started watching TVD and fell totally in amor with it! But don´t worry ;) I still amor Twilight. But Twilight isn´t so much action and exiting waiting like it is with Vampire Diaries. Both are good but i started to prefer Vampire Diaries. Watch it! It´s 100% worth it! You will regret nothing!
