what does <3 this mean and why does every one do it

You need to have a bord like the one on the picture. First, you press the left 'command' button. (On my bord, it's called 'Alt', I don't know how it is with you guys but its the button seguinte the spacebar.) So while you press that button, you press nr 3 on the right side of your bord, not the number that stands above the letters. With the other numbers (on the right side of course), you can also make other symbols. For example: 1=☺, 2=☻, 3=♥, 4=♦, 5=♣, 6=♠, 7=•, 8=◘, 9=○ Hope this helped you!
