Is the casting of the character to play Godric a good choice based on how he is portrayed in the books? I haven't read the books so I am curious.

I must admit that I do not really like the actor playing Godric's part. Seems to much like a little boy and just too creepily infantile. But I would understand if this is in keeping true to the book's portrayal of him.

Godric (Godfrey) was supposed to look young, like he was 16 when he was turned, with tatuagens and pale blue eyes. And he definitely gave me a very creepy, melancholic vibe.
The only difference I see physically is that he was blond in the book. Other than that, he fits how I pictured him.
Also he was neither a sheriff nor Eric's maker in the novel, rather he had kidnapped Sheriff Stan's brother and taken him to the FOS with him.

It is a good choice because in the book they describe him as a young boy in his teenage years and they also talk about the tatuagens all around his body.

im kinda glad he is not the one in the book, the one in the book is creepy even though he saved sookie from being raped
the godrick in the show is way better he is kinda of sweet but the one in the book(i have not read this one in a long time but i think he "liked little boys like sookie's uncle liked her.") and then he meet the sun and sookie watched

Yeah, like many others have already stated he was a pretty good fit for the book descrição minus the 'serial killing pedophile' which THANK GOD they left out.

He's described as a creepy, child-like character. He was originally from ancient Rome and the tatuagens are supposed to be some kind of ancient battle symbols that he obtained prior to being turned. His youthful look made it very easy to pray upon children, since he looked like one himself.

absolutely think he was a good choice. you have a young actor that can truely convey maturity beyond his years and thus believable as someone that has been around since the viking days. also he has great chemistry with alex so you feel for their relationship and end up liking him even more. the show killed him off way too quickly and should of let his character develop.
