In the books they definitely become a couple, but True Blood is under no compulsion to follow the storyline of the books to the letter. Furthermore, the popularity of Bill and Sookie on the show (not to mention their real life romance) might compel the writers to keep this relationship going. However, so far, True Blood does seem to be keeping the basic bones of the events in the books, which means that Sookie and Eric might have a chance of definitely hooking up in Season 4 (as it happens in the books) I don't know if we will see mais than the intense attraction and flirtation between the two of them in this upcoming season 3.
Well they officially hook up in Book 4 of the series, "Dead to the World" but they don't become a couple until a few books later, after a few twists and turns.
I don't think Sookie will get to be eric anytime soon with the way the writers are going, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last season with the way they are going.
Well, nobody else really knows either, do they? In the books they do, but the show isn't following the books to a t. Bill and Sookie are a very popular couple, but the writers might make Eric and Sookie a couple to keep the drama going.
