She sat alone, huddled,
A waif, so thin and pale,
A homeless child, ragged,
Who seemed so very frail.
Her parents had abandoned her,
She foraged on her own,
In procurar of comida and shelter,
She always was alone.
Her eyes were lost and vacant,
Her face bereft of glee,
She was the saddest little girl,
In abject poverty.
People seemed to walk right by,
Without a passing glance,
Their minds a million miles away,
Almost in a trance.
One dia a little girl came close,
And stopped and said hello,
And offered her a cookie,
Then said she had to go.
She came again another day,
And smiled and shared her lunch,
