Elena Gilbert
Elena Gilbert is the main female character and the main protagonist of The Vampire Diaries. She is a 17 ano old human girl who lives in the sobrenatural town of Mystic Falls, Virginia with her brother Jeremy at 2104 bordo, maple Street. As she is the main protagonist I felt that it was important for her to be a likeable character for us all to follow her and respect her actions. I believe that the way Elena is portrayed in the show, the task has been successful. Elena Gilbert has never, and never will, be a perfect character, she has flaws like most character, but that doesn't stop her from being one of the most lovable and kind characters in the series. Elena has been through a great deal in her life so far, and even then, she is only seventeen, nearly eighteen. She has lost her parents, both adopted ad real, as well as her aunt and survived a car crash. Elena is a very very strong character, in my opinion. She fights for what she believes in, but also makes sure that no one get's hurt in the process. She is willing to sacrifice herself in order to protect the one's she cares about, and is very Valente when she has to fight or defend herself. I understand that some fãs are critizing her with the fact she kissed Damon, calling her a cadela, puta and a slut and what not, but let me just say, if you are saying this, you are not a true fã of Elena, or anyone you ship her with. Elena is a very kind, honest and selfless character who continues to fight for the one's she cares about and continues to be a forgiving person. She had every right to be mad at Damon for the things that he has done, but through all this, she still finds it in her coração to forgive him. She is a character that can find light even in the darkess of places, whether it's in a situation or a person, and she continues to be the strong lead we always have seen. In the books she isn't as likable as in the show for me. In the start I did not like Elena's status at all in the book series. She was the typical spoilt queen bee at high school, one who always wanted what she wanted, and would do anything to get it. I have to admit, throughout the books she begain to be mais thoughtful and kind, although she still seemed selfish. The reason for this was her relationship between the two Salvatore brothers. She was the one holding them apart, stopping them from ever becoming the brothers that they were. This was because unlike show Elena, she messed them around, and it seemed like she gave a brother attention, kissed them and loved them, but then went to the other, just like Katherine did, while in the show, she doesn't mess them around.
Stefan Salvatore
Stefan Salvatore was at first seen as the main part in the vampire diaries series untill it was revealed that it was Elena Gilbert instead. When Stefan first came into view in the show I found the character of him very boring. He was a character who was kind and caring, I knew that, but the reason that I found him boring was the fact that he reminded me of the typical character who didn't drink human blood. His character and qualities where something that I had seen so many times, that nothing he did made me intrested because I had seen it before, I knew the deal. This continued throughout the first season, untill near the end, when the fact of Stefan dealing with human blood was brought up. This made me mais intrested in Stefan because he had something that I hadn't seen other characters have, the qualities which he had was something that I hadn't seen. The fact that when he confronted them, he was this completely different character and he was fighting it everyday and every second. I didn't want to see him in pain, I'm not a Stefan hater, but the quality made him and his story so much mais instresting. Stefan is a very guilty character, one of the topo, início in the show. He always feels guilt for making his brother turn so he wouldn't be alone, he fed and fed during the first time as a vampire and he has the guilt of wanting human blood. This also in a way adds something mais intresting to his character, mais so than it was in season one. Stefan cares for others, like Elena does, and doesn't like to see people be hurt and does feel pain when people die, like when Bonnie 'died' in 2x18, he seemed to feel the pain along with Elena. He cares deeply for Damon, and I beleive the one thing he wants is to have the relationship they once had in 1864 again with Damon. He will always feel guilt towards him, even if the relationship reachers the way it was before. For me, Stefan in the books is very different from the show, for me, Stefan throughout the entire books is how I saw Stefan at the start of season one, a very boring character. I saw him as something I didn't want him to be, Edward Cullen. I don't know if anything of you know but I do not like Edward Cullen at all, I found him a very boring character, as I see Stefan in the books, and I like Stefan mais in the show, where his character is mais delveloped and not as boring as it was for me in the books.
Damon Salvatore
Damon Salvatore was at first seen por me in the show as the vilian of the series, I didn't like the fact that he was hurting 0eople, including Caroline and killing others. I thought that he was the main villian and that the series would be about fighting him, and when it came to Damon being locked in the basement, I was happy, thinking it would be the end of him, but it was only after the episodes following that I realised there was so much mais to him that just the bad guy. I wasn't sure if it was the fact that he seemed so pure as a human in the flashbacks, or the fact that he didn't seem as bad as before, but there was something mais to him, and we all saw it. Damon is one of the most complex charcters in the show in my opinion for so many reasons. Damon is fighting this good inside him, because from what he saw from Katherine, he thought that was right, he lived that way for 145 years, longer than his human life, it was almost as if he was born as a new person, a mais bad person. After everything, the heartbreak and the things he went through he didn't want to feel anything, he thought it was easyier and that's why he shut everything out. He has done everything for love, it confuses me why people can say that he hasn't. He loved Katherine, then after everything turning into a vampire, he developed this obsesstion with her. It was almost as if he had lost everything, and if that was the only thing he had left he was going to make sure he had it, whatever the cost. He saved the Bennett family in order to make a deal to save her. When we found out that Katherine wasn't in the tomb we finally saw the real Damon as he mourned for the fact that Katherine wasn't in the tomb. He was going to leave, because for him he had finally lost everything. He had lost Stefan, and now Katherine. Damon is a very complicated character. He wants to be human, he never wanted to turn but he didn't have a choice, he would of rather died than become a vampire. To me, Damon is a character who is a good person, but because of everything, can't see himself as good, after 145 years of being bad, he can't see himself as a good person or a hero even though sometimes he has to be. Like he said in 2x12, he can't be what other people want him to be, the only thing he has is trouble. Elena brings out Damon's humanity because she is someone who shows what a human should be. In the books, Damon isn't fighting anything like the show. He doesn't want to be the hero, he's mais of the typical bad boy in the books, he wants what he wants, although Elena has brought mais good in him throughout the series through the fact that Damon is in amor with her and he would do anything for her, which seeing as Elena wants him to be mais good, he tries, although like the show, their is a part of him still fighting it. Damon is a character that needs love, mais than anyone else in the series, and when he gets it, he becomes mais human.
