One-year-old Gebar Byrd Jr. was last seen on March 22, 2010 in University City, Missouri.

According to his father, Gebar Byrd Sr., his mother, Yasmin Rodriguez took Gebar Jr. and left their home after an argument. Yasmin and Gebar Jr. weren't reported missing by Gebar Sr. until March 28, 2010 because Gebar Sr. said that Yasmin left a year before their disappearance and stayed with relatives for a month.

On April 9, 2010, Yasmin was discovered dead in the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri; she had a cut on her forehead and burises on her arms, legs and torso. A month later, Gebar Sr. was charged with murdering Gebar Jr. and Yasmin.

Investigators suspect that Gebar Sr. pushed Yasmin into the river at Riverview and Spring Garden Drive while she was holding Gebar Jr. (knowing that Yasmin was unable to swim) and the two of them drowned. He confessed to the crime after initially claiming that Yasmin killed Gebar Jr. and then herself.

In 2011, Gebar Byrd Sr. was convicted of second-degree murder for Yasmin's death, involuntary manslaughter for Gebar Jr.'s death, child endangerment and second-degree domestic assault. He was sentenced to life in prison for murder and seven years consecutively for the other crimes he was charged with.

As of 2022, Gebar Jr.'s body has not been located, but foul play is suspected in his case which is classified as an endangered missing person.
