Hollywood have just whitewashed The Hunger Games

What is it with Hollywood these days? Ever wonder why you always see white in Hollywood & not other ethnicity? I thought USA was a place filled with all race? I guess I was WRONG!
Hollywood have just whitewashed The Hunger Games por saying Katniss Everdeen !!MUST BE CAUCASIAN!! Katniss Is described as having LONG STRAIGHT BLACK HAIR, oliva, verde-oliva SKIN, & GRAY EYES! It specifically say that when Katniss was talking about how she & Gale can be brothers & sisters in the 1st book.
IT NEVER SAID KATNISS WAS CAUCASIAN IN THE BOOK, did it? I know that her sister has blond hair, light skin & light eyes, that's cause she is mais like her mom. However, Katniss is describe as being mais like her dad. What if her dad was mixed? Why can't they just say "Have to have black hair, oliva, verde-oliva skin, & gray eyes!!" I'm a Caucasian & think this is STUPID!!! & Also, what happened to the movie avatar & The Last Airbender? Where are the Asians?? I barely see any! & when they say, Katniss has to be "underfed" WTH? Now millions of girls are gonna STARVE THEMSELVES TO DEATH!!

This is why I hate Hollywood. I'm mixed and I hardly ever see any people with my skin color staring in movies. My mother is white and father black and I see no one like me getting any roles in movies. And what really pisses me off is that just like a ano or two atrás they made the first African American princess in The Princess and the Frog. That was like a breaking point for me. It shows just how racist the world really is. Also, in my school I'd say there's about maybe 6 black kids, including me. The world really needs to grow up and get over the racism.

And also that`s how Hollywood works they will white wash it because it works and get them money because people watch them if you don’t want that to happen anymore stop watching TV and filmes with mais white people in them and Hollywood will change. And also I myself am Caucasian but I have long black hair and oliva, verde-oliva skin so don’t have a freak out that the girl with be pale/fair skinned with brown hair.

I agree! If Suzanne Collins wants her to be white I'm sure she'll make the right chioce :) Heck if she picked someone with blond hair and fair skin makeup would do wonders I'm sure lol

I agree with you as well. I believe people are being oversensitive about this. If it's what Suzanne Collins wants, then it is what should happen. Now if they say that Rue has to be Caucasian, that might be a different story. :P

I really don't care if she's Hispanic, white, asian, or Indian. Just make her a good actress and we're good to go. And yes the avatar movie was a total fail stick! Monk Giatso (or whatever) was supposed to be asian but he was black, Soka was supposed to smile and be funny but he was gloomy and wierd, Zuko was supposed to be Asian but he was Indian, the only person I thought was good was Katara lol! I mean I'm 1/2 Italian and have really dark hair, light eyes, and some what oliva, verde-oliva skin (not that I look like Katniss cause I don't think I do)

I'm not really sure why they would be enforcing caucasion only in this situation because, as the posts before me say, she could be alot of things: white, mixed, middle eastern, italian, russian..etc. it's a shame they're cutting down the list of possible katnisses..what if our perfect katniss is native american? but it is improving, little por little. you see alot mais diversity in filmes as time goes on. hollywood is headed in the right direction, it's just taking it's time to get there.
