what do you think was happening in other countries?

During the time frame the Hunger Games was in what do you think was going on with the rest of the world?

What i'm thinking is that they are doing better than Panem cause europa has always been mais advanced in technology. i'm guessing plate techtonics have made them a different shape and india is probably its own island. i would say mais but I could go on forever

The pacific islands had probably had some tragedy happen to them like an earthquake or a tsunami destroying them, so they would be gone. There would be a massive war over europe, most likely the UK winning with the help of America and Australia, so that would've been claimed por the UK and they probably are having some economic problems like 1/2 the amount of comida they used to have. Like stellina said, India is probably its own island and is a mess. Australia would've been either dividido, dividir into like 7 different countries (China, France, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany and a tiny little bit left for Australia) and there would be an eternal war going on down there. South America would've been claimed por like 2150 por one whole country (most likely russia) and asia would be 5 countries, Korea (they eventually combined back together), Russia, China, a tiny bit of Japão and Indonesia. Scandinavia would no longer exists because half of greenland had melted flooding it, a bit of UK and some of Canada.

I kind of imagined that all the other countries were "dead".
Like, whatever made America reduced to Panem, must have wiped out everyone else on the planet.

OR!!

Maybe there are other countries, but they are even worse off than Pamen. Maybe they are living primitivly and have no access to technology that could help them explore the planet.

We don't know what is was, but whatever happened must have been extremly horrible.

I always assumed that the majority of the world was totally decimated por whatever disaster caused Panem to rise. Maybe Suzanne Collins could explore this as a sequal to the Hunger Games Trilogy, Hmm? I'd read it, for sures.

I think the countries were in such peril as Panem was, that they had to look out for themselves. I would like to believe parts of Asia and europa would have survived, considering I think the ocean waters engulfed a lot of land causing all the morphing of continents. Panem could probably have contacted other countries, but they could barely provide for themselves and potentially adding in another country would be too dangerous of a risk for them. As I said before, I believe the other surviving countries are struggling to keep themselves alive as Panem is, which is probably why they have no need to contact each other. They need to stabilize themselves before potentially taking on another country. I could go on ALL dia about this, but I'll stop while I feel I'm ahead(:

I'd like to think that us Europeans stuck together and were unable to help Panem because their government felt threatened por our democracy. The UK has also conveniently shifted over into the Mediterranean and is now a warm island paradise :)

I always thought that when the natural disasters started, many Governments fell, that the people of those countries fled to North America, where then a great war broke out over probably the largest continent left (Considering that the official map of Panem shows it to be about the same size and shape as North America is now, which also explains the nuclear wars mentioned) I then imagine as how small nations are formed (The 13 Districts) and Panem's empire grows as they take over each District(Which also explains why the Capitol [The original "Panem"] is very rich). I imagine there are still other country's in the world, but they're either too primitive in technology or Panem threatens them as to keep contact away from other districts.
