Lydia's immunity and her powers as a banshee

Sorry if it probably escaped my notice when they explained it on the show, but: is Lydia's immunity connected to her being a banshee or are these separate things? And, if so, does a banshee need to get bitten por a werewolf in order to activate her powers? (because Peter said: "I'm the spark that lit your fire")
Thank you in advance :)

Well I don't remember all the fact exactly but I'm almost certain Lydia only became a banshee because Peter bit her... And I do think her immunity is because she is a banshee. I'm not entirely sure. But I'm re-watching the show all over again now! ;)

You're so Valente to re-watch the ENTIRE show! :D Anyway, it just came up to my mind that Lydia's grandmother was also a banshee (they tell it in season four), so maybe it's something inherited...thanks for your answer por the way :)

This is never really explained on the show.

Peter says that Lydia is immune, but it isn't clarified why.

I speculate that Lydia is "immune" because she is a Banshee. Like when Scott bites Stiles when he is possessed por the Nogitsune to save Stiles, because he couldn't be both a raposa and a wolf. Lydia was born a Banshee, so she couldn't be transformed into a wolf.

Lydia's grandmother didn't develop powers until much later in life. Whether or not the bite accelerated her development or if Lydia is an early bloomer hasn't explained....yet.
