Superhero filmes have become extremely popular. In fact, they're one of the most popular types of films. However, superhero films used to not be so common or beloved. Nowadays, superhero films are a common thing. We get about ten superhero blockbusters a year. However, that wasn't always the case. There was a time where superhero films weren't very popular or successful. Sure, there were plenty of superhero-themed movie serials in the 1940's, but those types of filmes eventually went out of style.

In the 1950's and 60's, there were barely any superhero films. 1966 brought us Batman: The Movie, which was a wonderful film, but aside from that, there wasn't much going on in the world of superheroes.

I thought I would take a few moments and jot down some thoughts I have about super-homem and Christopher Reeve as I begin building this spot that actually means a great deal to me. It has gotten me to thinking about my childhood and growing up watching all of the super-homem films.

I saw super-homem the Movie in a theater in 1978. It was a moment in movie history before mtv or the internet when filmmakers were creating filmes to be experienced in a movie theater. These filmes used special effects the way Stanley Kubrick did in 2001: A o espaço Odyssey. The visuals were like a paint brush creating broad strokes across the screen meant to mesmerize viewers. Like Close Encounters or estrela Trek the Motion Picture, super-homem was about the larger than life world it played out in.
