He wasn't a jerk. He was misunderstood. I think if I owned a ship as grand as Titanic I would want to get all the positive publicity I could. Coming from an era where ships ruled the world and the Cunard Line, their rival, was coming up with the fastest ships, he was pressured into making Titanic the best. As far as saving himself goes, wouldn't you save yourself too? I know, I read too much into it. Titanic is a huge hobby for me.

Absolutely no, he made a poor judgement calls which caused the legendary vessel of Titanic to sink.

I have always stated "The Titanic will never die and souls that went with her are more powerful and more stronger than ever before because they are of legend"

All known souls on that vessel may you all Rest in the most peaceful of peace. April 15'th 1912 at 02:20 am will never be forgotten.

I totally agree, RMSTitanic1912! His worst mistake was getting on a lifeboat; he received so much criticism, etc. after he made that move.

He had no right to save himself. On a sinking ship, it is always Women and Children first. it is the first maritme law of the sea.

Any man who saves himself is reguarded as a coward.

It's isn't that he was a bad person but he made alot of mistakes lifeboats for one and trying to be the fastest ship in the world too which RMS Titanic wasn't built for that. jeremyr10 is right he broke the law. Yet by getting into the lifeboat he ruin his life so it poetic justice though it can't bring back those 1500 lives that were lost. R.I.P We will never forget!

How the hell was he meant to foresee the sinking of the ship?
