 Riley
Riley
My eyebrows pulled together in confusion. "Yellow eyes?" I asked, "What do you mean?"
She sighed. "Riley, there are many things that you need to learn as a newborn, and one of them is that we have an enemy here in Seattle. They're not here anymore, but they're still considered a threat."
"How are they a threat? What possible threat do they pose?" I questioned.
"Let me explain, Riley. The yellow eyes have a name - the Cullens. They're one large coven of seven but they are not like other vampires. Some of them possess very special abilities and that's what makes them a threat. They're a selfish and evil bunch. They don't care for anything else except for blood. As far as I'm concerned, they'd do anything for it."
I interrupted, "Have you ever met them or spoke with them before?"
"Yes," she answered. "I've spoken with them but once, along with a friend of mine, named Laurent. The nasty savages killed him and they would've killed me too had I not gotten out of there fast enough. Now they know that I reside in Seattle, and they want the city back. They're jealous of the easy blood that I have here," she paused. "Laurent was a great friend of mine and I've known him for years. All I want now... is revenge," she had an evil look in her eyes, filled with hatred beyond explanation. I looked down at the ground and kept my hands at my sides. "How do you want to go about this? What is it that you want, exactly?"
"I want them dead!" She screamed in a high soprano voice. "All of them! Every single last one of them!" She hit the side of the mural with her fist and it cracked tremendously.
I took one step back and looked at her with a little concern. "Okay, calm down," I tried to reassure her. "I know how you feel. I had friends when I was human, although I cannot remember quite clearly. Friendship is a powerful thing and for it to be lost in such a brutal way... I don't know what sort of sick people would do that, but I'll tell you this..."
She looked up at me with a slight hint of hope. I continued, "I'll do whatever it takes to help you win this and get your revenge. Such evil beings that ruin friendship deserve to be punished. I'm in this with you, Victoria. Just let me know what to do so that I can help you."
She slightly smiled and stared at me evenly. "Thank you, Riley." She stepped forward, towards me and extended her arms so that her hands were resting on my shoulders. Very slowly, she drew her face close to mine and said, "I amor you," and then kissed me. I don't know what to think. She... loves me? Well, I should have suspected that she would jump to this conclusion. She has kissed me before... Something about this girl... The way that she talks... I can't help but feel this special connection that we must have been destined to feel. Maybe we're soul mates.
I smiled at this thought. Victoria and I... vampire mates for life. I kind of liked the sound of that. I just went with it and she eventually stopped.
Then, I looked down at her. "I amor you, too." Smiling she kissed me again as the moonlight shone down on us both.

. . .

As a mês passed by, Victoria showed me many things. She taught me how to use the shadows that figures made against the sun to my advantage. She also taught me fighting techniques and how to make my running strides mais efficient. This she practiced with me for a long while, every day. One night, after a long dia of practice, she said, "You have been doing great, Riley. You're everything that I want you to be. You're perfect."
She averted her eyes and stepped away. "This is going to sound crazy, but I think you can manage. That's why I chose you."
I stared at her. "What is it?" I persisted. "I promise that I will not fail you, whatever it may be."
She glanced up at me with her red eyes. "I want you to create an army."
I was a little shocked at this, and I answered straightaway, "A newborn army? Are you sure?"
She nodded. "I know you can do it, Riley. All I want is for you to bring me humans - live humans. We'll need plenty of them."
I crossed my arms. "Let me get this straight... You want to create a vampire army so we can destroy this 'Cullen' clan for killing your friend, Laurent, and they're jealous of you because you live here in Seattle and have easy blood? That means that we don't have much time before they decide to attack, am I right?"
She whispered, "Yes, we don't have much time at all. That's why I want you to get started right away. However, before you get started, I want you to know something."
I lifted my chin in a quick motion towards her in a gesticulation for her to go ahead and explain. It took her a dividido, dividir milisecond, and she was on the mural again. "Let me tell you mais about this Cullen clan. I told you earlier that some have special abilities. One can see the future, the other can read minds, and the last one can control your emotions."
I looked up at her, "Is that so?"
She continued. "They keep a pet with them... A pet human."
I raised my eyebrows in shock. "What? A pet human? You have to be joking. How can they stand it?"
"I don't know, but there's something strange about her. She has a scent like no other. Her blood smells sweet and delicious." She paused. "I want her dead as well. The thought of her roaming the earth after associating herself with the Cullens for so long is repulsive to me."
I nodded. I don't know what kind of grudge that she could possibly have against this human girl, but it doesn't matter. She can do what she wants. This girl is of no value... Just another human. I shrugged.
"They cannot know my name." She said out of the silence. "They mustn't know too much about me... It could blow our mission."
I remembered the mind reader and psychic. "No need to explain," I said. "I understand completely."
"Good. We need a house - a place to keep the army while the sun is out. The house needs to have dead owners, a remote locale, and it needs to focus on Seattle. Since they are newborns, we're going to have to lie to them. They cannot know that they can survive in the sun. They may leave and expose what we really are. That could attract the Volturi's attention. Which is the last thing that we want to do."
I couldn't help but agree with this. I know that lying is bad... But, I can't help but fear this mysterious clan that has all the vampiros lurking in the shadows. I hope that I never meet them.
"Here's your first task - go find a human. Any adult or teenage human will do, but this will be a challenge. I'm not expecting you to succeed right away. You are a newborn and I know you won't be able to control yourself if you are the least bit thirsty. So, your challenge is to bring me a human, alive. Clear?"
"Yes," I answered, "Crystal."
"Excellent. I'll be out looking for a house. Meet me back here when you have the human," and with that, she was gone.
I set off into the city at my own leisure. I wasn't in any hurry and I pondered over what Victoria had just said to me. I wonder if I had made the right descision in helping her... I had to believe that I did.
I was bounding from building to building and the city lights seemed like they were just one color due to the speed that I was traveling at. Seattle was surprisingly busy for such an hour. Victoria said that any adult or teenage human will do, so that's what I'll look for.
I stopped at every rua and scanned for any sign of a decent human. Finally, I found one. I jumped off of the building and landed lightly on the balls of my feet into a dark alleyway. I glared at the young boy as I stalked my way through the darkness. He was on the phone, talking with who I took to be his mother. I paused. Listening to their converstaion, I could hear the young boy saying, "Mom, I'm really sorry, but I've been so busy. I'll visit you as soon as I get the chance."
The mother sighed and said, "Alright, hun. I amor you with all my heart."
"I amor you too, Mom."
I started backing away and I don't know why I was. I just couldn't bring myself to kidnap this boy. It... didn't seem right. I climbed the building wordlessly and left the adolescent.
I kept going and I eventually ended up at a remote, deserted area. There was just a few rua lights and nothing more. It was like the rapture had occurred or something.
I was about to turn around and head back to the busy area of Seattle, when I heard a dispute going on. I heard loud shouts and then bullets. I raced over to where I heard the sounds and then down the building's side, off of the roof.
I looked around the corner and I saw a young boy, he couldn't be a dia over 19, and he was cornered por some larger guys with guns. One of the men was dead on the ground. They were about to kill this young boy and that's when I rushed in. I stood in front of the boy as the bullets shot off. They hit me, but it felt like as though someone was throwing little pieces of styrofoam.
Seizing the nearest guy por the neck, I killed him instantly. Then I made my rush on the others and it was so easy. It seemed as though one little touch would cause their bones to shatter.
I was careful not to spill any blood. After my ordeal was over, I turned to the young boy. He had curly, black hair and he seemed frightened as all hell. "Want a new life, kid?" I asked.
He stared at me like a doe caught in front of a car on a stormy night. I rolled my eyes and knocked him unconcious. I was careful, when I struck him, to control my speed and strength, so as not to kill him. I carried him back up the buildings and I used the shadows to my advantage. I eventually got back to the lot where Victoria was waiting. She turned towards me and smiled disarmingly, "Well, well, well, it looks like you succeeded on your first try." She seemed very surprised and I was a little surprised myself. I don't know how I accomplished it. She looked at the human slung over my shoulder. "You did well, Riley. I'm proud of you. I've already found a hideout, so let's be on our way."
I followed her silently, carrying the unfortunate over my shoulder. It didn't take us long to reach the house. It was completely empty but it would serve as a reasonable hideaway. I dropped the boy on the ground and he came back to his senses.
Looking about, he stared up at me. "What...? Where am I?" He asked in confusion.
I stepped away from him and Victoria grabbed the back of his head and whispered into his ear, "What's your name, soldier?"
He answered in a hesitant and broken speech, "D-diego."
Victoria's red lips glistened and she showed her white, pearly teeth. "Well Diego... Welcome to the army," and then, like a snake, she bit into the soft flesh of his neck.
