Also. there's a broad spectrum of "new" music because "new" music isn't limited to pop, and there's a lot of music that's new that I like and a lot of it that I don't.
It's not like anyone exclusively listens to ancient Celtic music or Beethoven or anything.

There's a lot of crap music today, but a lot of good music as well, and not every song before 2008 was made of pure, solid gold either. Every decade of music had/has it's good and bad music. I also think that it isn't fair just to go by popular music alone.

There are many artists out there that get little to no airplay that are great such as many of the symphonic, Celtic, and gothic metal bands, indie artists and bands, underground rappers and rap groups, and other musicians and groups. Many of those don't have voices drowned out by autotune, make songs with vacuous lyrics about sex, drugs, partying, materialism, and violence against women and gay people, or have a generic, stupid sound.

Much of modern music is good, sometimes you just have to dig a little deeper.

A lot of Jpop songs today are good.
