If he has never spoken to you he might not really know you
Look at it this way. If he would have said no he would be given a lot of crap
If he said yes he'd have to deal with people making a big deal of it and or teasing him
Its called being safe.

So you two have never spoken? How do you expect him to want to be your boyfriend if you never talk? And he probably called you his friend to be polite. He probably didn't want to say he didn't know you. Unless he likes you. There's always that "love at first sight" thing I guess.

my friend for some odd reason asked a guy if he liked me. (probably 'cuz she thought we looked cute together even though we'd never talked)
he said the same thing... and he never spoke to me... and we went to the same class for 3 years... :|
