Goth and emo are really nothing alike. At all. Goth culture revolves around the dark, melancholy, beautiful side of things. Someone of the gótico culture would probably find something that most people find scary to be beautiful, like a run down, abandoned, old fashioned building or a foggy night. gótico lifestyle is based on the mais melancholy but not depressing sides of tings, and the lifestyle is based mostly on mais of a classical, old fashioned, romantic lifestyle. gótico music, and even the lifestyle, "There's bad things in this world, and that makes me sad, but there's nothing that I can do about it so I will just put up with it." Goths don't "pretend" to be dark, they just enjoy the darker things in life and manifest themselves in that and incorporate it into everything about their lives because that's what they love. Emo... Well, I don't know how to really describe Emo. But it's really mais of a style of clothing than the lifestyle that Goth is. emo música really consists of being sad, depressed, to the point of suicide. But I really don't know how to describe it since I'm not Emo... At all... They're two completely different things. They don't even look alike. Not to someone who knows what they're talking about. I'm a Goth at coração so I see the obvious differences that people who aren't familiar with these topics don't. Tim burton filmes are a pretty good example of what Goth is and what emo isn't. They're dark, monochromatic, and a bit melancholy, but not really depressing. Here's a video that can explain it. It's a little long, but it should help you.
