Teach your dog to catch: get your new dog's favourite ball. Throw the ball.  When your dog runs to get it yell " catch!" If he catches it give him a treat. Do  this every dia 20-30 times. After he learns how to catch you can practice every dia 7-8 times.
Teach your dog to drop...
