It happened when I got my pokemon soulsilver game, I was excited to play it, being a huge pokemon fã I had already played most of the other games por this point. Pokemon red, gold, emerald, the lists goes on. Although I never actually got very far in gold, I had lost the cartucho around the segundo gym. Since I hadn't finished gold I didn't have much of an idea what would happen in soulsilver, so I had snuck a peak at the game por watching playthroughs on youtube before I got it.I could have waited to just play the game myself, but i'm an impatiant person, also I figured knowing what to expect would help me beat the game. I picked a cyndaquil starter, and every thing was fine in the begining. I went on to beat gyms and catch pokemon like I was supposed too. The most significent pokemon I obtained was my eevee, it was after all my favorito pokemon. When I talked to bill to recieve it he said something about a friend sending it to him from kanto, but that he didn't really want it. Odd, I could have sworn he said something different on one of the playthroughs, but I shrugged it of as me not remembering correctly. The text box popped up asking if I wanted to nickname eevee. I clicked yes, and named him smiley. A silly name, he made me smile, so why not?
I continued the game without anything really abnormal happening. Smiley, despite being unevolved, somehow managed to become one of my strongest pokemon. This was most likely due to me keeping him at the front of the party, so I could constantly talk to him. I was careful not to let him faint to often, switching him out if his health was low, so he normally gave a smile or something of the sort to show affection in response. I eventually beat the elite four with my team of typhlosion, ampharos, pidgeot, wigglytuff, gyarados, and of course smiley. After that I went on playing the game untill I reached lavender town, I was disapointed to find the pokemon tower was replaced, but brushed it off and went to look at the new radio tower. I walked to a person standing in front of a staircase, who informed me I was not permitted to reach the upper levels of the building. Annoyed, I figured i'd take a break from the game and sleep. It was getting late soon anyway. I turned to save the game, and accidently talked to smiley as I did so ".....home" was the reaction I recieved. wierd, I hadn't seen that text before. But I brushed it off, and resumed saving the game and turning it off. Far to tired to pay any mind to it.
For no discernable reason I layed in my bed, wide awake after only an hora of sleep. After a feeble attempt at falling back asleep I gave up, and figured i'd play my game untill I was tired again. I hadn't gotten a chance to play at night anyway, and I knew scenes altered slightly at different times. I turned on my game, and clicked start on the menu. My charactor was standing where I left it, facing smiley. The room was a bit dimmer due to it being nightime, something else seemed to be off though. I stared at the screen a good few minutos before it hit me. No other charactors were in the room. Everyone was gone, including the person blocking the entrance. Another thing I noticed was the lack of background music, filling the room with an erie silence. Obviously I was confused, I didn't think the scene was supposed to change that much because of the time. I should have been alarmed por the drastic change, but curiousity easily overloaded my caution. I figured I might as well sate my curiousness por exploring the upper floors, considering nothing was blocking the stairs anymore.I walked to the door and went up the stairs with smiley in tow. The screen imedietly cut to black, and a strangled eevee cry was heard. A text box appeared leitura "get out, get out", reminding me of the ghost from the old pokemon tower. The overworld reapeared, and what I saw only added to my perplexed thoughts. Everything was in black and white. Graves were lined up in neat rows, leaving a path to the seguinte set of stairs, just like the old pokemon tower. My charactor didn't look any different, the bright coloring of the trainer greatly contrasted with the area. I was alarmed once I noticed smiley was missing. My eyes raked over the room in procurar of him, resting at the steps to the seguinte floor. The reason I hadn't noticed him there at first was because his sprite was now also colored in black and white, causing him to blend in with the area perfectly. I moved my player up to him and hit the A button."ś̢m̷͢i͝l̵e̵̷̛y҉ ̕͜͡w͝҉a҉̵s̛͟ ̨͜o͘ń̵e̕ ̵o̢f̵͝͡ th͞e͝m̷̸̀, Get out" was the reaction I recieved, followed por smiley running up the flight of stairs. I was tempted to turn the game off at this point, and just lable this a screwed up dream, but somehow I knew I wasn't dreaming. Hesitantly I walked up the stairs, noticing none of my other pokemon were following me as I went up.
The game didn't give me a chance to observe the seguinte floor, as a battle randomly initiated. "Wild GHOST appeared" showed up on the screen, and my typhlosion was sent out, its roar echoed through my ears. Despite what the game just stated, the health box held the name of smiley, not GHOST. The sprite however, did not look like the smiley I had grown attached to. It looked like a combination of my eevee, and the ghost from the first pokemon games.Smileys pele, peles had turned a dark grey, the ruff and tail tip turned white, instead of the creamy color it used to bear. The entire sprite was surounded por a foggy aura, black around the grey fur, and white around the white fur. The most disturbing change was its face, it had the same features as the old ghost sprite. Two glowing white circles for eyes, and a glowing white smile that streched across its face. "get out, get out" was shown before I could select my pokemon's action. I clicked attack, and selected flamethrower. Hoping if I could make smiley faint things would return to normall. "typhlosion is to scared to move" of course, I should have expected something like that. I could not have forseen what happened seguinte However. " smiley used curse!" My typhlosions sprite took on a whitish color, and its cry was heard as the color tore away from the sprite in a frown ghost shape, shredding pixels along with it. Very similar to the animation of a normall curse attack in firered/leafgreen. Except much mais violent, as it left my pokemon with missing parts and small reddish stains on its body. "typhlosion has died" then appeared, followed por the fainting animation, its cry was noticably slower. The battle then ended itself without me getting to use my other pokemon. Back in the over world smiley stood in front of me, I hit A to talk to it, and again I was met with the warning "get out, get out!" and as before, smiley fled up the seguinte flight of stairs. I opened the menu to check my pokemon, and just as I suspected typhlosion was no longer in my party. I really should have just left at this point, it was becoming obvious that was what smiley wanted. But I was determined to get to the end of this, I was never good at just letting thing go. Taking a deep breath, I walked past the graves, up to the segundo room.
Another battle started with smiley, going through the same sequence as before. My pokemon being killed instantly por the curse, and smiley running to the seguinte floor after. Each floor I was forced to watch former partner brutally murder one of my pokemon, with a monotonous smile on it face as it did so. Untill finally I was standing in front of the stairs with no pokemon left. Solemnly I walked up to the seguinte floor. The battle started, this time the trainer sprite simply stayed on the screen. Smiley had no cry when it appeared, only the get out message. When I options showed up I attempted to flee, but was met with a "can't escape". Since that had failed I chose attack, struggle was my only move, so thats what I chose. "trainer is to scared to move", once mais followed por "smiley use curse!". My charactor suffered the same abuse as my pokemon, the body becoming shredded and bloodied as its soul seemed to tear away from it. "trainer died" appeared, and the battle faded out.
Once the overworld came back, I found myself in what seemed to be the uppermost level of the pokemon tower. My trainer sprite was not visible, only five small graves with a larger one right seguinte to them. I only assumed they belonged to my pokemon. Smiley's overworld sprite was sitting in the middle of the room. The screen flickered a segundo to make a larger version of the sprite appear. It didn't excactly have the same stance as its battle sprite, it was just sorta standing, staring at the player, smiling. Get Out was below it in larger than normal white text. The screen then slowly faded to black saving the face for last, leaving a chesire cat effect. The game shut off por itself after that. From then on it simply refused to turn back on unless the game was removed.
