Later that year, John was asked to give an interview. He asked, "Do you want my band mates to come, too?" He was told "No, just you." He initially refused. The person on the other line reminded him that he was the front man. He said, "I don't care if I'm jesus Christ himself. I'm no mais important than my band mates." The person on the other line asked if he would come if he was allowed to bring his band mates along. He said, "We come together or not at all." During the interview, the band was asked how they all met. John said, "Peter, Allen, and I all met in high school." Allen said, "They were pretty crazy times." Peter said, "Yeah." John continued, "Then Peter met Stan at the Fourth of July celebration." Peter said, "That's right. I mentioned that I was in a band, and we needed a drummer. Then he said that he plays drums." Stan nodded. The interviewer asked if Stan can talk. Stan said, "Of course I can talk. I just talk when I feel like it." John said, "Stan's the quiet one, but he's living proof that it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for." Everyone laughed. John then said, "Stan may be quiet, but he's very sarcastic if you're not nice to us. Over all, Stan's a nice guy. I don't know what we'd do without him." The interviewer said, "You all are really close." John said, "Yes, we really are. If not for these guys, I'd be dead right now." The interviewer said, "Is that so?" He replied, "Yes, it's so. They saved my life once. I can't forget that." Peter said, "John's our mate. We couldn't let him drown." John said, "I still think you're crazy, Peter." Everyone laughed. John said, "In all honesty, I know that I can always count on Allen, Peter, and Stan. They're my buddies. They're always there for me." The interviewer asked Allen, Peter, and Stan if John was always there for them. Allen said, "Definitely." Stan said, "Oh, yes." Peter said, "John is the best friend we could ask for. He's a great leader, too." John said, "You're just saying that." Peter said, "I'm serious." John smiled at his friends. They smiled back. In just a few years, the members of The Devil Wants Peace had become so close. In fact, in one interview, John considered Allen, Peter, and Stan his family away from his family. He said, "I amor those guys no matter what. They amor me no matter what. Those who amor you no matter what are considered your family."
