FANS of Outlander will be looking forward to welcoming a host of new faces when the Starz time travel series returns next month.
And one of the new stars to grace the royal court of 18th century France is actress Rosie Day.
The English actress joined the Season 2 cast last year as Mary Hawkins - with fans given a closer look at her character in a series of new portraits.
The star, who is also celebrating the release of her film All Roads Lead to Rome, recently spoke to Female First about her role in Outlander.
She said: " Mary is very sweet, innocent, and shy fifteen-year-old. Jamie and Claire – the central characters – go to Paris where they discover that she is being sold into an arranged marriage and needs help getting out of it. Claire adopts her and takes her under her wing.
"From that moment, you see her develop from a very stuttery and shy little girl into a woman over the course of the series; it was really lovely to play. The series is full of romance, war, and torment; it is very dramatic but it is great."
She also spoke about how she found stepping into the show after the phenomenal success of its first season and how she was already friends with main star Sam Heughan prior to filming.
She added: "I have loved it. I have been friends with Sam Heughan, the lead actor, for years and it was really lovely to go onto a set where I already had a mate. It was such a lovely set; we filmed in Scotland.
"It has been such a great thing to be part of. It has American showrunners and they are all over here, but it still feels like quite British. The scripts were so great. I haven’t seen any of it yet, so I am excited to see a bit."
Outlander Season 2 is based on Diana Gabaldon\'s second novel Dragonfly in Amber and sees Claire and Jamie Fraser head to France to try and change the course of history.
In Paris, the couple attempt to stop the Jacobite rebellion and the Battle of Culloden. by seeking out Bonnie Prince Charlie.
The show is set to premiere in the US on April 9, with viewers in the UK able to see their favourites just one day later as the show airs on April 10 on Amazon Prime.
