the show used to leave you feeling impacted some how every time it went off, like you had learned something or were touched in some way by each episode (that's how I felt atleast). It was deep, real, emotional, and relatable for the viewers. It talked about subjects and storylines that hit close to home with the people watching. But now (as I've said before), it just seems to revolve around endless UNfunny jokes, repetitive/unnecessary storylines, a weird obsession with EVERYONE being involved in a relationship, and secondary characters that serve no purpose to the show.
The show has lost all of it's magic, heart, and meaning. to me anyway. Now, we're lucky if we get one or two powerful episodes per season... as opposed to how it used to be, when just about EVERY episode had some kind of meaning, purpose, and powerful message to it. Sadly whenever an episode goes off these days, I find myself feeling like I just wasted an hour of my time on a show that has no substance to it anymore whatsoever. Ok, END RANT lol
ICA, Kelly.
I think this wonderful show hasn't lost a spark of its magic...to me it's neither better nor worse than the previous seasons...it's not even different. It seems to me most people define "different" by the actors that left the show (Leyton) and by comparing EVERYTHING with the seasons they loved (no Leyton xD). Okay, it doesn't mean everyone has to LOVE the new direction this show has taken...but for me it's not just about the moments that I watch on TV. It's about how an episode leaves me...that I'm having tears in my eyes EVERY single time I'm watching it, that I'm feeling the same things those characters do...
So why not approach a subject, that IS so close to home (like the cancer sl), twice? Imo they can turn a HUNDRED of these episodes with the exact same sl as long as it touches me, as long as the acting captivates me and as long as I feel like I'm a part of that sl!!!
Aw, okay...I'm done xD
Yes. But they can write an equally or more amazing episode. For me, they haven't done that since s3. I miss the times where there used to be amazing moments + good music to back it up.
So you see, it's not really about "LP leaving" or "repeated SL". They could repeat SL for all I care, as long as they own it. Episodes cannot be all "powerful and climactic" (but those mentioned episodes are), there has to be an exposition. I just haven't seen an episode which blew me away because of the spectacular writing since s3, episodes which you WILL watch even after years because it is that good. They all feel flat to me, full of build up but no climax, hence the pick. If you think we've had episodes such as those, I'd like to know since I have to (re-)watch it.
Well...maybe there aren't any epic episodes/moments since s3 in your opinion. I can only give some examples for amazing moments that I (how are you italicizing letters? So many ppl here know how to do that...just not me xD) loved...like...4x09 when they won the state championship. Or when Nathan was on that press conference and telling Haley that everything was gonna be okay and that she loved her (after he had learned that she was pregnant). --> Or even the last episode (7x16) when Lydia told her daughters she's going to die. Isn't that "close to home" enough for you? ( : What could be more realistic and heart-breaking than a disease thousands of ppl die of EVERY year?!
Just my two cents :)
It's not the same OTH, but i don't find it as mediocre as season 5 and 6. Or even 4 (at least after episode 13, apart from a few scenes those episodes were bad).
and last season- 6x03 with Q's funeral was really intense, and 6x17 with leyton's story line about finding out how risky peyton's pregnancy was (i may not be a leyton fan, but i can appreciate how well and how intensely powerful their story line was portrayed in that one episode)...
i don't think OTH has lost it's flare for the dramatic... i think it's lost the ability to be interesting without the drama (for example: look at naley... people loved them in the earlier seasons even when season 2 was their only real dramatic season. but in the later seasons people seem to only love them after they were torn apart by carrie or a sex scandal.) i think OTH always had lots of drama- but even when there were story lines that weren't that dramatic, people loved watching because the relationships (between lovers, friends, siblings...) on the show as well as the characters themselves were amazing.
And as an LP fan, I prefer watching their 'You don't know me. I think I do' moment or jumping on the bed rather than Brulian. Hope I made myself clear :)
That's how I feel.
