The sweet lavender mare who had tucked him in, been a mother, sister, and best friend to him, was gone. He now remembered her smile, they way she talked, her quirks and patterns. Things he'd never enjoy again. He wanted her to tuck him in again. Wanted to run about all dia helping her. But no, that wasn't possible.
He entered the library, knowing this would be the last time he did so. He had set out his plan clearly. Maybe the others would miss him. Scootaloo definitely would. He had become one of her best friends after arco iris, arco-íris Dash was killed in the war. Maybe I should let them know. Spike hesitated. Then he shook his head. No. Nopony would find him until they destroyed or refurnished the library.
He wandered around, recalling every event from the past few years. Parties, thanks to Pinkie, dinners, slumber parties, memories with friends.
Spike walked downstairs into the basement. Almost over, he told himself. There it was. It was a weapon Twilight had worked over for so long.
He lifted it, and rested the end against his chin. He took a minuto or two to apologize to his friends.
Spike placed a claw on the trigger.
"See you in a moment, Twilight." He whispered.
He pulled the trigger.
Several years later.
Two stallions had entered the basement, and noticed the bones. "I thought no one had lived here." One had said.
"A mare and her dragon did a while back." The other replied. "Twilight Sparkle, and Spike." He nodded to the skeleton. "Must be him."
"Where's the mare?" the first stallion asked.
"The graveyard." His companion said. "Must be why Spike killed himself. Poor guy probably missed her."
They left. Had they lingered, they would have heard a faint laugh from a mare that was long deceased, and a joyful cry from a young dragon.
