In refrear, bridle Gossip, how did Twilight Sparkle use her magic to comb her mane with a brush yet she can't use magic later in the episode?

I was wondering about this because I saw Bridle Gossip today. Twilight used magic to brush her mane but she didn't use magic after that. What do you think happened?
