My overrated filmes rant. Oh and the gimmicks of cinema.

I understand Perfectly well that avatar and Up are popular this award season, but when it comes to the Academy awards the wealth should be spread. avatar besides being a " Drug movie" didnt have much to it. Up was very engaging. But I found the Princess and the Frog to be much mais entertaining and its good old fashioned pencil and paper. Which brings me to the gimmicks of filmes I cannot stand or are getting old. Everything in 3D or everything CGI.

I get what your saying alrite and i am a bit fed up with cgi, i thought avatar was good but the story was weak but i loved UP and honestly i would amor to see that win best film, it won't happen but i'll keep my fingers crossed.
But if your talking about films that are favoured por the academy awards and most important award shows then you aren't talking about action cgi films or even cartoon because the vast majority are slow drama's (not saying they are bad cos i amor a lot of them) but you can guarantee any film about a war(The Hurt Locker) or some kind of depressing or heavy drama/Documentary of some important persons life will be a hot contender(whether deserved of not), sci fi,Fantasy, comedy and the like are usually forgotten in the big awards(cept LOTR), anything described as "breath taking" OR "epic" aka long, slow thought provoking(sometimes) is the type of film nominated.
Its only really in recent yrs other types of films have been given a chance and thats probably down to cgi and 3D an how much its improved so i wouldn't be too hard on that.CGI used in the rite way and in the rite amount is brill i'e Lord of the rings, estrela trek
Thou i don't really think 3d has benefited films much. I amor the princess and the frog but Up did come out a lot earlier giving it mais chance of recognition in time for the award season.
Thats jus my opinion anyways

I think 'Avatar' was fine, at least it's visual and techincal part was like a 'visual orgasm' x). I honestly did not understand the hype about 'Up'. Although, in my opinion, the most overrated movie do encontro, data is 'Titanic'.

I liked titanic but it was melodramatic at times. I like Up, I just grew up on hand-drawn animation. So I miss it, its a nostalgia thing.

They were all great movies...but I kinda of agree with you on the 3D & CGI thing...but its technogy and that is where the world is heading....people would rather see and experience 'real life' on the screen then actually go out and experience it for real.

I liked Up, but sometimes it got boring. The first 10 minutos of the movie were the best part of it. The música was great too. I think that Fantastic Mr. raposa should have gotten mais praise. Now that is a great movie. It's very underrated sadly. avatar was good but only visual wise.
