“I Will Be Loved”, a score por Michelle Shocked inspired por Monroe Painting por David Willardson

LOS ANGELES — Over fifty years after Marilyn Monroe’s untimely and unfortunate death, she still captivates the hearts of many, including Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked, who has penned an as-yet-unrecorded song, “I Will Be Loved”, inspired por a portrait por fine-art painter David Willardson, who has captured the pop ícone in a striking painting. Shocked has made the song available through her website for just $5.00 as limited-edition sheet música with only 500 copies total.
“I always knew I would be beautiful if I were loved”, sings Shocked from the Marilyn-inspired song, “and I will be loved”.
Of course, fãs know Marilyn Monroe as one of the most celebrated and enduring ícones of all times. Although fãs know Marilyn Monroe best as an actress, she also recorded at least three dozen songs related to the nearly 30 films she starred in.

Through the years, Monroe has inspired musicians, writers, and artists— like Madonna, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Joyce Carol Oates, Andy Warhol, David Willardson, and Michelle Shocked to name just a few – with her timeless glamour and extraordinary character.

David Willardson and Michelle Shocked have created a collection of works, titled “Indelible Women,” in which Willardson paints portraits of famous female pop-culture ícones from the past century and Michelle brings the imagens to life with her poesia through songs written about each painting.

The Indelible Women include Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Ella Fitzgerald, Frida Kahlo, Virginia Woolf, Georgia O'Keefe, Billie Holiday, Amelia Earhart, Anne Frank, and Michelle Shocked, herself

Shocked will release one song, from the work-in-progress Indelible Women project, each mês this year— as sheet música only. She will start in February with the song inspired por Willardson’s painting of Monroe and end with a songbook with all ten scores in December.

Shocked announced the release in time for Valentine’s Day. fãs know that this is not the first time Marilyn Monroe has been featured in Valentine’s dia promos.

In the 1940’s, Marilyn Monroe was still Norma Jeane and she posed for a Valentine’s dia promotion. Again, around 1949, 1951, 1954, and 1960, as Marilyn Monroe, she posed for other Valentine’s dia fotografia shoots. Monroe also posed in front of larger-than-life sheet música in 1952 at a party held por Fox.

Both Willardson’s painting of and Shocked’s score of Marilyn Monroe came to life within miles from Monroe’s backyard of sunny Los Angeles.

mais relevant today than ever, Marilyn Monroe lived a life and left a legacy that continues to excite fãs all over the world.
