In Bowser's Castle:
"Sir," one of the Hammer Bro soldiers said, "our resources have gathered that King Boo, who bears the key, is gone."
"Gone?! Dafuq, what do you mean, 'gone'?" Bowser roared in rage. He didn't like what he'd just heard.
The Hammer Bro soldier tripped back a few steps. "Uh, what I meant to say was...Your Highness, according to our Parakoopa troops, they have given us intelligence that King Boo is no longer where he is."
"Well, where is he?"
"He's not around...It's as if...he's really gone, like he's dead?"
"Who could've done that?!"
"I don't know for sure, Your Highness..."...

"Ha! In your freaking FACE, King Boo!" Luigi huffed and shouted, just because he felt like it.
Yoshi laughed with him.
"I think our job here is done, don't you think so, pal?" Luigi elbowed the green dinosaur playfully.
Yoshi's expression suddenly turned unhappy.
"What's wrong, Yoshi?"
"W-ell, I'm just wondering—we were able to beat King Boo and all, but..."
"But what...?"
"That's it?"
"What do you mean?"
"What I meant to say was, nothing happened after that? We were just here to beat ghosts—nothing was left to help us defeat Bowser? No seguinte clue, no riddles at all?"
Luigi frowned. "Come...

Get out of Yoshi's body, you kingly pain in the butt!" Luigi hissed.
Yoshi (or rather, King Boo inside Yoshi's body) laughed. "Defeat me, and you'll be sure to get him back." The possessed Yoshi leveled an evil look at the green plumber. "But I wonder...can you defeat your own friend in the process?"
Luigi aimed the nozzle of his Poltergust at Yoshi—feeling uncomfortable as he did so; he couldn't imagine the thought of kicking the butt of the very person who kicked bad guy butt with him.
Calm down, Luigi said to himself, after all, it's not like that's really Yoshi, right? Deep inside him,...

“So it was you who was a-messing with our heads!” Luigi scoffed. “It was a good thing I snapped out of your twisted dark magic and all your illusions!”
King Boo snickered. “Merely a trap to not only get you to quit, but also to get you to give up altogether.” Then he added with an evil smirk, “But there were no illusions involved—everything you saw before you were real. Your friends are really suffering; you’ll really be up against all the forces that are beyond your wildest expectations....”
“And as I’ve said—I’m going to save them no matter what!”
“Still so...

After long segundos of pure adrenaline and wind being whipped across the face, they finally began to angle downward (which was a relief for Luigi in a way he didn't want to reveal yet until they got down) and eventually they landed in front of Bowser's Castle. Yoshi managed to land on a bush, while Luigi, who closed his eyes and screamed the entire time, landed head-first on a huge boulder just near the castelo door.
"Ow," Luigi complained under his breath.
"There," Yoshi said to Luigi as he hopped out of the arbusto, bush and looked at the door of Bowser's Castle, "wasn't that quick? And it was fun,...

“You...cannot be serious, pal!” Luigi spluttered in shock.
“Oh, but I am,” Yoshi said, his tone sad. “What chance do we have? We’ll only die trying to save everyone there.”
“I figured as much, but...”
“But what? Luigi, I don’t get why we have to stretch this out any longer. In fact, I don’t know why we’re even here in the first place! What are we searching for here, anyway? We’ve been busting ghosts, but we haven’t gotten a clue yet as to why we have to do it!”
“I’m sure there’s a reason why we were asked to come here before saving Mario and the others....,”...

“What just happened to Yoshi’s Island?” Luigi sputtered.
Yoshi was just as flabbergasted as the green plumber. “I—I have no idea.”
“We should see where—” Luigi turned around for the door, only to see that it was now gone.
“The…the door! It’s gone!” Luigi screeched.
“What!” Yoshi screeched in reply.
“But that’s impossible,” Luigi panted. “I mean, we had just a-gone through a door, and it led us here, and now we look behind and it’s gone!”
“What could it mean…?” Yoshi shook his head, confused with what was going on and exasperated with all the confusion...

“Unbelievable,” Luigi huffed under his breath. “It’s a-like we were kicked back at the very start of our trip to rescue Mario and the others….”
“Kinda like the whole point of us being ‘sent back’ to Yoshi’s Island, then to World Seven and finally Luigi’s Mansion,” Yoshi replied flatly, knowing that, as Kamek had pointed out, he’d already given hints about the foes they were set to face and they had been too slow to figure it all out.
“You seriously didn’t see through my little hints?” Kamek said tauntingly, as if giving confirmation to Yoshi’s silent assumption....

“So, you can’t wait to start?” Bowser said with a sneer as he closed the distance between him and the green plumber with just one stride.
Luigi blinked in surprise. Bowser’s expression seemed void of all sorts of hidden tricks up his sleeve (if Koopas wore sleeves). If Bowser was planning something especially devious, he certainly wasn’t showing it right now.
“How about you tell me where my brother is,” Luigi feebly suggested, “and maybe we can get somewhere without so much as a struggle? Then you can kick our asses—well, mine—as payback for all those times I foiled your...

“Bowser!” Luigi and Yoshi gasped in unison.
“Like no other,” the Koopa King said, as if to confirm their assumption.
The silence dragged eerily. It was hot, considering Bowser’s castelo had a reputation for being in a rather volcanic atmosphere. But despite the heat, and the constant surge of lava that occurred around the castle’s outside walls every now and then, the eerie silence made the whole scene seem rather…chilly for the heroes.
Bowser grinned evilly at the green plumber, causing Luigi to blink and suddenly shrink from the pose of where he stood.
“Hello, Luigi, I’ll...

Luigi sighed as he walked into the door. He could only think of Yoshi, his green dinosaur friend, back there. He thought of how Valente he was, to put himself in between him and Kamek’s shot. Not just brave, utterly selfless—sacrificing in the place of a friend had always been considered a core act of nobility. He wondered idly what would have happened if his pal hadn’t done that….
Luigi shook his head. No, that wouldn’t have happened, he argued with himself. Yoshi gave me this chance; he knew that I’d have to face Bowser, he knew that it would have to be me who would face him in...

“Looks like I’ll have to deal with you guys myself,” Kamek said in a sneering tone. Luigi and Yoshi could tell that he wasn’t going to try any of his tricks anytime soon.
“Tired of your games?” Luigi taunted, though he wasn’t sure if it really was a taunt. Given the way Kamek sneered and his abrupt shift of tone compared to when he’d summoned his shadow underlings, he wasn’t sure if his response to Bowser’s right-hand man—who, even Luigi himself has to admit, was a powerful magician in his own right—was a taunt or a bluff.
“Don’t worry—Lord Bowser won’t even...

“What’s up, pal?” Yoshi asked in a hushed voice as he practically limped toward his equally battered friend.
“It’s all the same,” Luigi whispered, mais to himself than to Yoshi; for all he knew, it was as if the green dinosaur wasn’t there. “Since the very beginning, it has always been the same.”
“What is?”
“The soil key-eyes monster back in Yoshi’s Island, Lakithunder from World Seven, King Boo from Luigi’s Mansion, and finally the labyrinth that required the jewel that got us past Bowser’s security system…”
“And…?”
“They all followed through the same...

“Let’s a-go!” Luigi said as he and Yoshi made their way toward the door plainly waiting at the end of the hallway.
The green plumber, not wasting a segundo to spare, opened—well, mais like yanked—the door open, and they both rushed to whatever was waiting at the other side.
To their surprise, what waited for them at the other side was a totally different scenery—so different that it made them wonder if they were still inside Bowser’s Castle.
“Are…are we still in Bowser’s Castle…?” Luigi wondered. Their surroundings were so unlike the hot and deathlike interior of the...

“Who said that?” Yoshi asked, turning around to see, but there was nothing but the dark.
Why don’t you two just give up? After all, it’s going to turn out into nothing, anyway....
“Ugh—just who and where are you?!” Luigi hissed.
That isn’t important; it’s rather foolish of you two to go and risk your lives for those people—most especially when you know you’ll lose.
“Says who?” Yoshi objected.
Says this.
At first the duo couldn’t make sense of what the voice was saying until a flash of something swirled about in the darkness and continued until it formed a shape.

Luigi groaned a few times, then he tried to open his eyes, but he couldn't have them move—his body was sluggish to respond.
"Wh-Where am I…?" he mumbled.
There was a light yet tomboyish voice calling on to him.
"Hey, Luigi…"
Luigi started; the voice sounded somehow familiar. "Who are you?" He strained his eyes to see a lady-like figure among the fluff of the clouds.
The figure made a giggling sound.
Luigi scratched the back of his head and made a disgruntled face. The giggle only leaned even closer to the person in Luigi's assumptions.
He cleared his throat and blinked hard before he said her...

Luigi pondered deeper onto the tiny riddle Bowser had left them with.
“Two heads, five tiles off and three corners out,” he muttered to himself repeatedly, eyeing the two statues, the door from which they’d first entered back and forth.
“Um, Luigi…?” Yoshi noticed the green plumber from the corner of his eye. “What are you muttering about…?”
“There’s something about those two statues, and the door that we came in earlier—something’s off…,” he mumbled, not really talking to Yoshi at all.
The green dinosaur frowned. “ ‘Something’s off’? I don’t get it—what...

Luigi and Yoshi ran as far as they could—as fast as they could—as Bowser’s army was slowly beginning to gain enough strength to break free from the Birdos’ and the Yoshis’ “chain” to hold them back.
“Quick, Luigi,” Yoshi shouted, dodging a Spiny egg that a Lakitu had thrown at his direction. “We need to hurry—if these guys finally block the road, I doubt we’ll get another chance!”
“Ugh, coming,” Luigi panted, giving put just as much effort as Yoshi to dodge the attempts coming at him; it would only be a matter of time before the mass of Bowser’s crew blocked...

Luigi and Yoshi looked behind them from where the voice had come from.
To their surprise, it was exactly as they had assumed the voice had come from.
“Birdo!” Yoshi cried with relief.
“In the flesh,” Birdo answered, half-smug. The other Birdos beside her murmured in agreement, their tones echoing the semi-smugness that radiated from the one who had just spoken.
“We could sure use some help,” Luigi breathed; part of the tension that had only been building up from within him had eased some when he and Yoshi’s rosa, -de-rosa friend had shown up for help. Then worry sprouted up from its place....

Luigi and Yoshi walked their way past the castelo door. Yoshi glanced once at the green plumber as the duo made their way deeper and deeper into Bowser's territory, and was replied por Luigi's nod—and a straight set on his pursed lips.
Soon Luigi stopped; Yoshi felt like he should do the same, too.
"Luigi?" Yoshi asked, staring intently at the thin Mario brother's face, looking for some sign of regret—like he'd wished he'd let Yoshi talk him out of the whole rescue thing in the first place.
But, to his surprise, there was none.
"What's wrong?" Yoshi asked again; the silence was getting to him....
