Is lost based on the story of Jacob and Esau?

I dont know much about the story. But I'm leitura The Red Tent and it talks a lot about the twins, Jacob and Esau. Although the book is mainly about Jacob and his family, I couldnt help thinking that this was connected to LOST. I just wanna know what you guys think and why.

Simple answer: no it's not, but the reason they chose the name Jacob could well be because of the Biblical character.

I think that the lost writers might have gotten the whole Jacob and "the man in black" storyline from that story, but it is defenitly not based on that story because there was no airplane that crashed or a hatch in the middle of the jungle. They are very alike though, so I'm guessing that the writers got the whole idea from that story.
