Before moving to Sweden from the US, I think I single-handedly supplied one library. I figured it was almost cheaper to do that and re-buy over here than to try to ship them all... plus it helped the Library out a great deal.

Sometimes the books people want to donate don't fit in with the library's collection development policy. Library's have a limited amount of space and can't hold everything.

Nope. I don't know how the new management handles it, but the woman who used to run the place would just throw donations away. When I don't want a book anymore, I'll either sell it online or take it to a used book shop and trade it in.
