If L had arrested Light and Misa at the exact same time, then Light would not have been able to set up that plan to have the death note brought to Higochi, trick the shinigami into killing L, etc... Light may have been caught at that moment.

Letting Light join the team. Light joining the team only helped Light get more info on L... though I understand the saying, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." It applies here.

if light did'nt know who L was he would'nt have known who to kill in the first place,but then i guess the series would'nt have been so interesting.

i think he made 2 mistakes. tellng light that he is L and not arresting him was the mistakes. but i think he was perfect in everthing else.

The only mistake that stuck out to me was that he, even vaguely, let his emotion get in the way. I think all of the other things had a legit purpose that in a way, made sense.

He was also going against something that was completely new to him, too. Dealing with supernatural things he didn't know well of put him at a disadvantage.

No one is perfect, not even L. :\

I would add this choice, if I could... Well, I'm not sure if I would call it a "mistake", considering that he probably didn't even have much time to consider this, but I think that L would have wanted for Mello and Near to work together, and that he should have told them that those were his expectations. Mello and Near can't beat Kira, alone, nor can they success/surpass L; however, together, they would basically be unstoppable. Not only that, but I think that, with time, they could grow to be close friends.

Okay, that doesn't have all that much to do with L, but... tis' my feelings. x)
