Jim Varney was a comedic actor that left a big impact on a large generation of fans. Jim Varney's best known for playing Ernest P. Worrell, the protagonist of the Ernest franchise.

Ernest was originally in a series of commercials for various products. Jim Varney's memorable performance as the clueless Ernest left a strong impression on viewers. One year, Jim Varney was a guest at a parade. He ended up getting mais attention and applause than Mickey Mouse. Considering that Mickey rato was Disney's mascot and most iconic character, it was amazing that Jim Varney's Ernest managed to get even mais amor from the crowd than him. This led to Jim Varney's Ernest getting a film franchise.

In 1987, Ernest received his first theatrical film. Ernest Goes to Camp got mixed reviews from critics, but Ernest fãs loved it. Soon afterwards, Ernest got a TV show. oi Vern, It's Ernest! only lasted one season, but Jim Varney ended up winning an Emmy. The first Ernest film did well at the box office, so sequels soon followed. The segundo film, Ernest Saves Christmas, and the third film, Ernest Goes to Jail, also performed well in theaters. However, the fourth film, Ernest Scared Stupid, underperformed in theaters, and the fifth film, Ernest Rides Again, performed even worse. However, this wasn't the end of the Ernest film franchise. The Ernest films started becoming direct-to-video releases. Ernest Goes to School received some screenings but was primarily a direct-to-video release. Slam Dunk Ernest, Ernest Goes to Africa and Ernest in the Army were all direct-to-video films.

In addition to being known for Ernest, Jim Varney was also known for his work in Toy Story. He voiced Slinky Dog in the first two Toy Story films. One of his last films, Atlantis: The lost Empire, was another disney animated film that he did voicework for.

Jim Varney was a very popular actor with younger audiences. He was a very kind person that would visit sick children in the hospital as his Ernest character. He received several requests to appear at the hospital for the Make a Wish Foundation. Jim Varney cared a lot for the kids, so he worked hard to help as many kids as he could.

Jim Varney smoked a lot in his lifetime. This led to him developing health problems. When he realized how bad things were getting, he gave up smoking and tried to seek treatment. Unfortunately, Jim Varney was an actor that passed away too young. He only lived to be fifty. However, his legacy has continued living on in the hearts of his fans. Ernest was a fan-favorite for kids that grew up watching his commercials, film and TV show. Although Jim Varney is no longer with us, his positive contributions continue to give generations of fãs lots of smiles and laughs.

For Jim Varney: Thank you, Mr. Varney, for all that you did for the fãs during your lifetime. You were dedicated to bringing families lots of joy up to the very end. For that, you have the eternal gratitude and amor of the fans.
