i felt sorry for a lot of characters but mostly rena and shion when they went crazy

Shion, cuase se had to balance the lifes of 3 people with pain and she had to rip three fingernails off of er left hand of her own will, that must take some serious willpower, then one of the people she ripped a fingermail off for went missing and etc.

Rika died mostly painless deaths, although se must have been mentally distressed.

Satoko, only when she was abused by her aunt and uncle.
Rena, she had to kill peole against her will.
Mion....did something happen to her?

Rika spent hundreds of years, endlessly traveling to new Hinamizawas once she and her friends were dead. I think it must have been horrible for her to witness death after death of her best friends, and then go through the pain of having herself killed countless times, and the first couple of hundred years, she couldn't even figure out who the person was that was behind it all, of course after she figured out it was Takano, a little bit of her mental distress would've been lifted, but she still had to go through endless Hinamizawas, and never know what it was like to see the days after June of 1983.

Have u heard her backstory??? Its so frikin sad!! Her parents died cuz they got pushed off a bridge cuz everyone hated them cuz they wer wantin to build a stupid dam so the parents AND Satako wer hated. PLUS even after that she still was hated by everyone ther. Like the part wer Satako drops her coins and noudy helps but Rika then evryone helps cuz RIKA WAS HELPIN. And they gave all the coins to Rika. Y would u chose rika?? i get she has to live life after life after life for houndreds of years but basically so does everyon else!!!

I felt sorry for many of the characters,but I felt rather bad for Rena-chan and Shion-chan,especially when they went crazy,but as mentioned Satoko had pretty rough and sad back story..especially with her parents.

They ALL had it rough, but I'm particularly sensitive to abuse scenarios. She then wound up in the same place as Rena in the world where Keiichi brought her back, in that she has to live with knowing she went psycho. Yikes.

She lost her bro and she'd killed by Shion. She'd a very sad storyline.

I didn't vote because Rena got so upset where she cut herself and then was cursed by well, the cures. Secondly, Satoko was abused and lost her brother. Lastly, Shion was cut off completely by family.

~ I though Satoko because when satoshi died she was lonely and her mother and dad. It be painful if i ever heard my parents and brother died. Then she had to live her cruel uncle.I saw her uncle he was so mean to her and treated her like a slave.The people threatend to drown her and her family in the dam project and I just cried

I felt sorry for all of them really.
Rika had to watch all her friends die multiple times and had to rewind time once again.
Satoko was abused by her aunt and uncle and lost the only caring relative she had left.
Satoshi became exhausted and mentally snapped due to Satoko's abuse.
Rena was the child of a divorce, with an adulteress mother, and had to watch her own father get used by another woman who said she loved him.
Keiichi was bullied at his old school, which caused him to shoot young Children with a bebe gun to vent.
Mion was never close with her sister, having their identities switched, and was basically turned into a robot.
Shion fell in love with Satoshi but after his disappearance, she lost her insanity but ended up never losing Satoshi's care for her at all.
Akasaka lost his wife when he was visiting Hinamizawa and also Rika, a girl he viewed as a daughter like figure.
Takano lost her parents at a young age, was abused by the orphanage care takers, and had to watch her grandfather break under the scholars pressure, causing her to loose it once she got older.
All of them had a story that made me cry. </3

Everyone, especially Rika and Satoko.

Rika died 1,000 times, usually being gutted while conscious, all the while witnessing her friends die and kill each other.

Satoko lost her parents, was shunned by the village for something her parents did, was abused by her aunt and uncle then loses her brother.

Takano lost her parents, got sent to an abusive orphanage, gets adopted only to have him die.

Shion was shunned shunned by her family, had to rip her own nails out then loses the person she loves.

Satoshi was abused, shunned and is now in a coma.

Rena's parents divorced and she experienced the Hinamizawa syndrome before.

Keiichi lives with the guilt of shooting kids before coming to Hinamizawa
