Why wasn't Harry accused for Cedric's death?

I mean, Ministry of Magic didn't want to believe in Voldemort's return so it'd be really easy to blame Harry.

The Minister really believed Dumbledore wanted to take over the ministry. Both Harry and Dumbledore had been telling everyone that Voldemort was still alive since the end of Harry's 1st year, but they didn't want to believe them. If everyone believed Harry's story, then the minister would have looked like an incompetent idiot for having ignored 3 years worth of warnings. This, the minister believed, would make it easy for Dumbledore to get rid of him and then take over as minister.

por claiming it was an accidental death, they were able to sweep the whole thing under the carpet and keep it somewhat mais quiet. If they had arrested Harry for Cedric's murder, then it would have made front page news for a number of months. Months during which both Dumbledore and Harry would have had the opportunity to tell a much larger audience that Voldemort was back. Instead they spent most of the summer discrediting both Harry and Dumbledore so that the few people who were told only listened with a sceptical ear.

That was also the reason why Barty jr was given the dementor's kiss before he was able to be questioned. They were too afraid Barty would corroborate Harry and Dumbledore's version of events.

Interesting question. I believe I have an interesting answer to match.
If you remember, Rita Skeeter wa buzzing (literally) around the school, trrying to put Harry and his friends in a negative light. Recall the various articles.
Anyways, as Dumbledore said, Cedric was murdered, as we all know. He also says that the Ministry didn't want them to know. But he tells them anyway.
Even though Rita isn't composição literária for the Prophet anymore, she really got the ball rolling. That summer, the Prophet, and the Ministry, claims that Harry's insane and Dumbledore's senile. Why? Because they know the truth.
Fudge, then Minister of Magic, had spent over a decade restoring and maintaining peace. With Voldemort back, his cozy little peace is ruined. So, he, and the Prophet, say that Dumbledore and Harry are lying in an efgort to keep the peace. They even go so far as to ignore mass breakouts from Azkaban and the defection of the dementors.
Umbridge, on behalf of the Ministry at Hogwars, says that Cedric's death was "a tragic accident." When Harry tries telling the truth, she supresses it.
So, in conclusion, the Mi istry wanted to denounce Harry and Dumbledore, not turn them into criminals. With the mass breakouts, they'd probably escape anyway. According to the Ministry, Dumbledore and Harry together can do anything, which is a problem. Also, claiming Harry is a murderer would, again, ruin Fudge's perfect "peace."

I hope that helped.

That answer is so wrong. The Ministry didn't believe Dumbledore or Harry until after the Department of Mysteries adventure. You should revisit Order of the Phoenix

Hmm, well, I think everyone was in shock when Harry popped in with Cedric and everyone saw him dead. No one was ready to make an accusation, so they believed Harry for the time being, but once everyone went início for the Summer the M.O.M., well, became mais idiotic and decided not to believe Harry and cover up Voldemort's return. So, I guess they must've had at LEAST a LITTLE sympathy for Harry because they never blamed him for Cedric.

One day, if I ever meet Our queen I'll ask her this for you. :)

Just try Priori Incantato on Harry's wand.
Slip him a few drops of Veritaserum in his morning abóbora suco, suco de - to make a quote.
A bit of Legilimency should help too.

And the truth will out.

Besides, casting an Avada Kedavra is beyond the magic of a 4th ano student in my opinion. Remember what Arthur Weasley had said to Barty Crouch Sr about casting Morsmordre, after the DE attack on the Quidditch camp : it was beyond the abilities of a 14-yr-old kid. The Killing Curse requires much mais to be cast.

I amn't sure about Priori Incantato. That would just prove that his last spell wasn't Avada kedavra but everything else is valid. And the last explanation seems right. Thanks.

Also,.the Killing Curse isn't the only way to kill, but it is the cleanest
