James may have been "evil", but Snape was the same to him. He tried to use Sectumseptra on him, but no one seems to remember that. If it wasn't for James, Snape would be death. James saved him from Remus.
And Snape bullied Harry, in a even worse way than James did to him.
He's a hipocrit, you don't do that to the son of the person you "love". Also, when you TRULY amor somebody, you want that person to be happy. Snape could care less about James and/or Harry, all he wanted was Lily alive. I don't care if he changed or not, his acts speak for himself. He still was awful to Harry. He was mean to Remus and he was always trying to push Sirius over the edge.

So yea, i pretty much hate the guy. LOL

We didn't got to see James in his mature years, but he was the right person for Lily. He was a loyal friend. And he didn't care if Lily was a "mudblood". He didn't care about blood types, and the proof is that he had no problem marrying Lily. And trust me, i bet a lot of people were against that, especially at times like those where they lived.

James loved her mais than anything, and he died for her and Harry. He's the perfect person for Lily. <3

Well of course, if it weren't for Lily & James, there would be no Harry so it's a tricky one. However, Severus's undying amor & loyalty for her, even after she married his ultimate enemy and had a child with him, suggests a very rare and powerful love, and it saddens me that they couldn't have ended up together.
What needs to be remembered is, the reason for the bitterness and darkness of Snape's character is all due to a ton of heartache: first he never really knew amor from his parents, then the one person he ever loved (Lily) ends up with the man he hated most. If that wasn't enough.....she then dies! This, combined with Snape's hatred of himself and guilt over calling her a 'moodblood' after James humiliated him, totally shaped the Severus we know. If he hadn't called her that name he would probabaly never have lost her to James and she would probabaly also still be alive. After Lily died, he said he 'wished he were dead' and I believe, if it weren't for Dumbledore suggesting he protect Lily's son so that she didn't die in vain, he probabaly would have ended his own life, instead of living with the pain and regret of losing Lily. This is why his eyes are described as being 'black and dead'....when he lost Lily, a peace of him also died. Obviously the man made mistakes due to his bad upbringing, however, he certainly had the capacity to amor and change the negative aspects of his personality. People suggest his amor to be selfish but really, it's not so different to the rest of us. How many of you wouldn't feel a desire for someone you loved to be with you instead of your enemy? Even if they were happy with your enemy there is always a selfishness about 'love' where we want so badly what we desire. However, if Snape was purely evil and selfish he would never have protected Harry for Lily all these years while enduring the daily torture of having to look at the child of his true love, who also resembled the man he most hated. Risking his life to spy on Voldemort for Dumbledore while never allowing anyone else to know the virtue of his actions is also a selfless act. He may have screwed up before Lily's death but no one's perfect and everything he did following her death mais than made up for it. And to the very end, his patronous remained the same as Lily's because of his amor for her. Now THAT is true amor :)

Severus, I believe, loved her with his whole heart. Growing up in an abusive household with a muggle father and an almost invisible mother, he never knew true amor of any sort. Thus, when meeting this beautiful little girl who accepted him for who he was, it was as if he had found his place in the world.

I believe that he had SO, SO much capacity to amor with his whole heart, that if not for the 'mudblood' incident, which was a mistake on his part, he would've given her the world if she so asked, same for if they had been given the change to have children together. However, with the abusive past, and being abandoned after a moment of weakness (mudblood incident), and the Slytherin influence, he was led down the wrong path, and the pampered James Potter roubou away all hope for Severus ever finding love.

Severus and Lily no question...Severus had a hardcore amor for her. Never with another women… now thats saying something. Unlike everyone else I won't use Severus's childhood as an excuse for his actions. Only that people say and do stupid things. James Potter was a jerk, a rich kid that picked on Severus from dia one. If anything I blame Lily, she knew how Severus felt about James. What a blow to someone who is in amor with you, of all the men in the world she picked James. No wonder Severus became a deatheater. Everyone makes Lily out to be some Saint in the series, but in reality it is a story of forgiveness. For as good as she was she couldn't forgive her best friend. It was her friend that needed her the most. Severus was messed up and she knew it. Young people say stupid things, and its then they need you the most. Plus J.K. Rowling was awesome in picking out the characters personalities, she used there astrologia signs to add to the characters. If you look a Lily who is a Pisces it says she would be ultra-sensitive and too emotional. She would take things to the coração very easily. Remember Severus apologized and begged for forgiveness, something that is hard for any man to do. If she had any amor for him even as just a friend she would have worked it out. Even if it took a long time, a life time of friendship is a terrible thing to waste. Another trait of the Pisces is that she would either need a man she could save emotionally like Severus, or she goes for a man who is overly manly like James. Pisces women are known for letting their men take control of the relationship, they like it. So when Lily got with James it was pretty much over for her and Severus, since he and Sirius hated him so much. To make a long story short this is a tale of forgiveness and what could have been. I don’t know about astrologia signs in real life but j.k.rowling used this a lot to help her create her characters. Severus lost the amor of his life forever in pain, and Lily lost her life. Maybe things would have been different if people forgave more. I think that what J.K. Rowling was trying tell us in The Deathly Hallows. When Harry named his son Albus Severus and stated that Severus was the bravest man he ever knew…Harry showed he was a better person than his mother. He learned to forgive….something his mother never did.

ah yes that is a shame. I think it depends on our personal self confidence though. My friend, for instance, finds it easy to tell a man she desires him, whereas for me, I find it much harder because when I fall for a man, I suddenly feel very small and unworthy :D I do not believe, however, that this diminishes the sincerity of my feelings compared to my friends. If anything, it may suggest that what I'm feeling is far mais powerful but who knows. It's interesting though :)

Severus' history is sad! It really is... but you can't control love. Lily chose James and therefore they are the best couple. Otherwise there would have been no Harry Potter, right? ;) ;)

But I follow you that one could have written tons of books about the fight for Lily, it's really interesting and I would have liked to have known even more.

I kina emphatize with Severus because he didn't end up with her and lives the rest of his life alone in the shadows... but I have to stick to the fact that Lily chose James.

You guys said james dıed for her. So Snape wouldn't dıe for her. Snape bullied Harry but he saved him an helped him. ı don't care ıf he tried to use Sectumsempra on him. James always bullied him. I don't care what you guys think. I would rather Lily and Snape. You would say Harry Potter never would have been there. Then there would be someone else and James would be a teacher. Why not?

James and Lily, definitely. Without them, there'd be no Harry. No series, no one to defeat Voldemort (you can't say that the equivalent child Lily could have had with Snape could have been the subject of the same prophecy).

Also, if Snape had truly loved Lily, he wouldn't have cared about her Muggle parentage at all. He wouldn't have called her a Mudblood no matter how provoked, that word wouldn't be in his vocabulary. I don't begrudge her at all for refusing to forgive him over that. I wouldn't have.

James did bully Snape, but Snape used Sectumsempra on him (you see a weak, semi-deflected form of this in the pensieve memory in OotP). It's written in Snape's potion book "for enemies" - who do you think it was intended for? And later on he calls the spell Dark magic himself.

Everyone seems to criticise James for teenage bullying, and forgets that he joined the Order aged 18 and died trying to buy his wife and son time to escape.

Snape and Lily were friends. Snape did amor her secretly, but James was open about it. Lily did already like Snape (as a friend) but she grew to like James. So how did she grow to like him? James could be a little, well, annoying at times. Then again Severus wasn't always the nicest man on earth to James.

Some people say Snape bullied Harry. I think it's different. Everything isn't always black and white, and I'm not going to talk about James, Lily, Severus and Harry, I'm going to talk about colours. In the middle of black an white, there are many shades. For instance, grey. As mean and dark as it might seem, you can't make it without white. So maybe Snape is grey. He might have gave Harry tough love, as he wanted him to be as sensible as Lily. Think about that.

Even though Snape looked after their child well, James and Lily were a good match. James never stopped flirting with her, even if she wasn't in the mood. James would've done anything for Lily. He died trying to protect her and Harry, even if they did still die.
So yeah. Just my opinion.
