Twilight fã Student Refused Diploma For Graduation Speech Inspired por Eclipse 

She was denied her diploma for saying "hell" not for Twilight. Either way, people seemed to be outraged by the fact that she used a Twiight-inspired speech. I thought that the speech was very nice and should have been in the books :/

It's pretty ridiculous she was refused her diploma just for saying "hell"....

Do most school's give out diplomas so long after graduation? I got mine the same day I graduated. (Not relevant, I know, but I was curious.)

I think there's a lot more to this story that is being let on. Eclipse's speech, while wonderful, was hardly unique. And 'hell' is hardly a word worth withholding a diploma over. (Also, schools constantly withhold diplomas for all kinds of reasons. Some universities won't hand over a diploma if a student's financial obligations are above a certain amount. Another student had his withheld because he tebowed after a football game. It's shaky legal grounds, but it does happen.)

That's ridiculous....since when is "hell" a bad word? Or at least, a bad enough one to warrant not getting a diploma over? That's awful. I feel bad for her.

I read about that before. It's stupid. Refusing a student a diploma for using the word "hell" in the graduation speech?! WTF?!

She wasn't denied the diploma for simply using the word "hell." In the original speech she submitted, she used the word "heck," so they weren't thrilled that she changed it to "hell" without asking whether she would be allowed to say it. There are some people who believe that "hell" used in the wrong context is a bad word, like "what the hell?" So, I don't blame them for being angry over her using it in the speech without approval, but whether that constitutes not giving her a diploma... I don't know.
