Why are SOME Twilight fãs so aggressive about Harry Potter, even going as far as to pick holes out of JK Rowling?

No, I'm not directing this at any one particular person. Besides, I can't remember you picking holes out of any author.

harry potter contra crepúsculo Respostas

Picking out plot holes is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. There's nothing wrong with it, as long as you're trying to be reasonable. (It's easy to tell when people are being reasonable, and when they're being hateful. Usually, if words like "stupid", "Idiotic", "sut", and the like aren't being used, they're most likely not being hateful)

When it comes to mindless bashing, it happens for the same exact reason Harry Potter fãs at times mindlessly bash Twilight. We're not different from each other.
(Please don't tell me sme Twilight fãs haven't read Harry Potter. Some Harry Potter fãs haven't read Twilight. Also, don't give me any made up statistic. There is no statistic in existance that proves how many Twilight fãs have read Twilight and vise versa, and unless you know "most Twilight fans" or "most Harry Potter fans", not a single person here knows how many Harry Potter and Twilight fãs have read the opposing books)

What you've said is fine, but the thing is, a lot of twilight fãs I've encountered do NOT state why they think Twilight is better than Harry Potter. I'd be perfectly happy to listen to them if they do. Most comments Harry Potter fãs have made seem quite logical to me... about twilight containing too much amor and not enough plot for example, although some harry potter fãs simply say, 'because harry potter IS better than twilight'. I'd amor it if all of you can explain using reasonable reasons why you think Twilight is better, because I truly do not understand. I'll be grateful (i'm not being sarcastic). I'm a dedicated harry potter fã and I often bash twilight, but I ALWAYS offer logical reasons.

"about twilight containing too much amor and not enough plot for example" <--- That's not logic, that's someone's opinion tat you agree with. That's the problem, I think. Many say the Twilight reasons are no good and illogical because many are simply opinions, but also fail to realize that the "logical reasons" they so readily accept are just as opinionated and "illogical"

That's fine

I wouldn't exactly call it aggression because our reasons are quite logical. And mostly because there are huge holes waiting there to be pecked out

How would you know? I'd say a lot of assumptions are. That's why I'd like to know what you think the flaws are; to see if any twilight fãs agree with my assumptions. But well, my request seems to be a waste of time.

The fact you're assuming I'm a Twilight fã is a pretty big indication from the get-go.

Same reason some Harry Potter fãs try to bash Twilight. Maybe they just don't like it.

True. But I still take in to account the opinions of those who haven't read Harry Potter. But I might not take it as seriously as someone who read the books and didn't like it.

I think the same thing can be said about Harry Potter fãs being so aggressive about Twilight and doing the same with Stephenie Meyer.

But normally, there wouldn't be a need for us to be aggressive because as you can see, harry potter fãs are the majority,

The things we do, the reasons we give are logical. Harry Potter naturally has an advantage over Twilight because JK Rowling made it better. Zanhar1, you can't be suggesting Stephenie Meyer is better than Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books have been written even before I was born, and they're still going popular. The twilight books have just been accepted recently. Already the media is saying twilight is the new harry potter, stephenie meyer is the new rowling. I can't believe it! JK Rowling whose books are world famous, compared to Meyer?! Harry potter is for all audiences because it actually teaches us lessons while twilight is only for teenagers. Because the contents, the love, isn't realistic. Adults who have actually experienced real life, real amor know this, that's why twilight don't interest them.

I never said anything about either series being mais superior then the other. Superiority is all a matter of opinion anyways. Frankly I believe HP is better but that's just me, and the other fans. I was simply stating that both sides pick out plot holes and both sides have good points and not so good points. No need to make a big deal out of something simple.

^lol:) Before I didnt understand what she meant. Im sitting here thinking "When on Earth was Twilight (as in the series) ever mentioned in any of the movies?" Then I read your comment and im like "OHHH!!!" LMAO!

I'm not saying you're agressive, don't worry. But I was thinking...it is possible to open a debate page where users can give very logical reasons supporting both sides and criticising the other? Just an idea...

^That's actually been tried before. (It was on a fórum a while ago.) But nobody really participated, and it died off. You could procurar for the fórum and see if you could bring it back. It'd look myself, but I'm on my iPod and searching for things is a pain.

I really do want such a debate and want to start one. Maybe starting a new one would be easier rather than trying to bring an old one back...
