Bella's character was never a strong one. Meyer only wishes you to think she was strong in the first place. It is a simply thing of what is told and what is shown. Constantly the reader is told about how strong Bella is, but every time it comes to show her strenghts, she comes across as weak and/or a major complainer about having to do things for others.
