It all comes down to money--the corporate sponsorship/ownership of the news outlets. The mais mainstream sources are going to try to appeal to the broadest audience, so focusing "too much" on lgbt issues won't do. You get certain groups complaining, threatening the sponsors, and you see where it goes. At least now there are networks, like MSNBC, which will provide positive coverage of lgbt events. Then there are the internet news feeds, but I'm betting you know this!
