Ratings. They sound good in theory. What better way to know how good content is? Unfortunately, the reality is far, far different:

Trolls - We've all seen them. They rate things a one, just because they can.

Non-Raters - There is a LOT of awesome content on fanpop that goes unrated.

Friends and Enemies - friends get high ratings. Enemies get low ratings. It happens.

Rating Unfairly - People dish out 1-star ratings to imagens and vídeos containing characters/pairings they don't support.

Rating the Uploading Process - Content gets rated based on HOW it was uploaded instead of the quality of the actual...

This section of my guide for fanpop users details the ratings system and was last edited on 26 May 2008.

As with any web site, fanpop is only as good as its content. Some content - what I think of as the soul of the site - is generated por users in the fora and in comments on the rest of the content and cannot be rated. But the rest of the content - the body of the site - has a ratings system.
