I am not here to lecture you yet again on fotografia crediting. I am done with that.

I am way past the lecturing and into downright grrrrrr-ville.

You already know full well that taking something you did not create and not giving full credit to the owner is theft. Your excuses mostly boil down to laziness at this point.

So.

This is my public notice that any and all imagens with no credit to the original owner of the image will be rated harshly no matter how great the picture is... or how much I normally like you.

Additionally, if there is a blatant Copyright notice right there on the damn picture and you still failed to credit the owner, I'm reporting it to fanpop -and- notifying the owner of the image that you roubou it.

Enough is enough.

DrDevience Pirate - the difference is that the videos have an automatic link back to the original video...

DrDevience Cinders - when someone puts 'google images' that's like putting 'fanpop.com' as the credit... In cases where you cannot find the artist themselves, then a full link to the image is needed to try to cover the legal ass of Fanpop and you ;)

DrDevience Question here: If it is too much trouble to dig around in your pocketbook for the money, or the line is too danged long at the check out... does that make it ok to steal the candybar?

chel1395 Thanks for the reminder, DrD. I'm definitely bad about this. I'll just credit the URL I got the pictures from or if I screen capture them myself, I fail to credit anyone. Normally though, I'm diligent to put at least the website of where I get an image (unless I personally took the picture) not only because it is polite, but also because if someone sees one image they like, they can go to the site and check out other images from that website. Thanks again for the reminder and I will be much more careful about crediting from now on. :D

maybeastarbucks Question: I create my Simpsons icons out of screenshots from a video on FOX's official website. Should I credit FOX?

kateliness2 This is such a reminder- just about every one of my images/icons is a still shot I've taken myself from Disney. I usually fail to credit "Disney" perhaps because I figure it's obvious, perhaps because I put Disney as a keyword or perhaps I'm just good at being bad ;) Anyways, I'll be more on my toes from now on about crediting Disney. "Original image from Disney and tweaked by yours truly"

PkmnTrainerJ DrD, can I get your approval on tags and crediting on the Smash Bros. Brawl spot, as that is mostly images. Just check it, and let me know if you think that's the way it should be. If so, I'll keep that the regular thing when adding images.

georgiapeach91 I never knew that crediting was so serious. I am really bad about not doing it, but from now on I am going to credit all of my images. I guess I never thought that posting someone else's pictures was stealing, but now I can see it is. I am going to try and go back and credit my images, or at least post that I was not the creator. germany123 Im really amazed at how many people dont know about this..but then again i know tons of photographers. Im sure its not even something people do because they are lazy ( well some are, they just upload and have medals for pupils) but they are not aware that people make a living from photography- they spend money to go to places,take pictures, edit them.. its their idea and their property. I cant believe that someone tried to use your images to sell stuff,countess! what are the fanpop four saying about this, anyway?

TheCountess the images I had problems with weren't posted on any of the Fanpop spots... they were posted on a couple of sites that I had. I lost the main host, but I've still got the smaller images up on three of my sites. If anyone is interested in the larger versions, they just email me in the meantime. Under no circumstances am I or anyone else to make any money off of them though. They're just listed as fan art with a disclaimer on the sites. As for the guy selling them on eBay, I actually found that our from someone who was collecting some of my wallpapers. I then had to get in contact with the seller and tell him to stop. I haven't had any more problems since then.

DrDevience Michael said recently he was going to post some kind of reminder to people... I have no idea what that means, but have suggested strongly that they make Image Credits mandatory.

DrDevience And actually, another field should be added. There should be Photog Credit, AND Copyright owner. They are not always the same. I have loaded hundreds of images to Fanpop that I own the rights to, but am not the photographer... I gave the Photog the credit, of course, but if anyone wants to reuse those images it is me they have to get permission from to do so.

harold Hmm...good point. But I think that perhaps it would be better to rename the existing field to represent the owner, and then those of us who know the photographer (who should get credit) can provide that in the description. The owner is a lot easier to figure out most of the time than the photographer, unless it was taken by you or a relative (such as Lars or Blake in our cases). My point is that a separate field for "photographer" would hardly ever be used...

bvgf You know some people forget who the credit goes to becuase the image is on thier computer for such a long time. DrDenvice do you want me to mention Names?

DrDevience bvgf ... it is ok to occasionally put something like: Owner unknown, let me know if this is yours that way you are at least being honest and it is not likely anyone will get sued over it. I will not accept that on a ton of images though... it is not a Free Pass.

ToastedRabbits DrDevience, I get a lot of my pictures from Deviantart.com, is putting the username oand the website enough credit?

I heart pick additions! Truly!

Just out of curiousity, how do people feel when they've created a pick, find pictures, spell- and grammar-proof the question, finally send it out to the world -- and two weeks later discover new choices that r ovrwhielminley mispeled, say "all of the above" or "none of the above", or are green numbers among all of the pretty pictures?

Well, you can read between the lines for my opinion. But I don't know whether this is a personal irritant or whether many mais besides me feel this way.

Of course, there is a time and place for everything. Crazy_chica added a "None of the above" option to my link...

Why is it on imagens that there are so many mais views than there are people who rated it? It makes me really sad, because I like to see what people think of the content I add. Now, I realize that there are people who view imagens a mais than once, but what I don't understand is when some of my imagens have 87 views and only 2 people (one of which is me) who rated it. In the past I used to be guilty of this, however after adding a lot of content I realized that how good it made me feel when people took the 2 segundos it takes to rate my content. I mean you are already there, and you veiwed it,...

fanpop is for fun

fanpop is supposed to be a fun place for people to share their ideas, ask perguntas and find out about some information, but lately fanpop is just used for people to like you or for you to be the best.

I know everybody likes being good and having lots of fãs but that's not the point of fanpop.Infact one person even did a pick that said do you like me!

I also have seen that their have been alot of arguments over fanpop in alot of spots which is ruining it for everyone.
