conselhos for seeking a Beta Reader, any help?

Well let me just say it's tedious if anything. I have long sought a beta reader for my stories, but with over 7,000 possible beta readers listed just staring at the list makes me feel overwhelmed and dizzy. I don't know any of these people! I know it isn't necessary to know them, but what frustrates me the most is there is no way of knowing rather a beta reader is even active. I've sent messages out to possible beta readers that seemed the most likely to take an interest in my work, but have yet to receive a single response. It's been months and no beta :(

My stories have been published without added assistance even though I know they are not perfect, because of this. I'm not happy about this, but I just can't wait forever. (I've received help with the first chapter of only one of my stories, so not to discredit that, but that is all.)

Is there a special or a better way to get a beta reader, or is it just a waiting game? Is there a preferred format in how to approach of a beta reader or what? I could really use some conselhos on this.

Correct that, over 8,000 beta readers.... there's no way I can go through all these profiles, that's impossible. How frustrating.

As far as I know, there doesn't seem to be an easier way to do beta-hunting, unfortunately. I never had any trouble looking for a beta; one of my reviewer happened to be a beta and offered to proofread my work. And the other time I just used the HPFC forum. Which brings me to my seguinte point.

I don't suppose you write for the Harry Potter fandom? If you do, then you just found yourself a fool-proof, super-easy way to look for a beta. Look up the fórum "Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges" and one of the topo, início post is called "Looking for a beta." You fill out the form, and any beta interested in your story will come along (and trust me, they just almost always do) and wallah! You just found yourself a beta.

But if you don't, well, one thing you can do is ask for help in your story. Write an author's note in the beginning or end of your story that you need a beta and maybe someone will come along! You can also put a little note in your profile. There's no guarantee that either of these two methods will work, but, better than nothing, right?

Oh that's what I was afraid of, but no I'm not really a big Harry Potter fan, I prefer anime. Unfortunately I don't think there's a fórum like that in the fandom I write for at least not that I've seen. I tried asking for help in author notes and on my profile, but have gotten no responses. That's why I was asking, if there was any method I haven't tried, but I guess not. :(

Aw. :( Sorry you're having such a hard time. FFN should really do something about that, like maybe open a "Betas wanted" section where all authors with a story to be looked over can go and post or something, y'know. Maybe you should request that as a feature, if you'd like!

That's actually a pretty good idea, maybe I'll do that, tankx :)

Hmm.. The best way I guess is to ask for a beta in an author's note or on your profile. That's what I did, since I felt like I needed one. Unfortunately, it was a very long time before someone actually answered, but worth it I guess, since she is a very good betareader. I wish there was an easier way for getting and offering beta services, but I guess not now at the moment. Maybe you can ask your FF friends you PM with to betaread for you - that's what I did before I got mine. A lot of betas (including my own right now) are not official ones as they don't have betaprofiles. So the best I can say is keep asking~
