Dear
I am pleased to announce the release of my new book, Nevermore, which is a thriller. When a wealthy Chicago lawyer backs Alan Pinkerton in creating the first U.S. detective agency, he suggests that it be kicked off spectacularly por Pinkerton solving the mysterious death of Edgar Allan Poe in Baltimore, October 1849. The two were contemporaries, and of course Poe "invented" the professional detective with his "Murders in the Rue Morgue." Every fact of Poe's death is included and accounted for into my solution of the bizarre ending of our most outré writer.
Novels and films such as The Seven-and-a-half Percent Solution and The Alienist have combined famous personages, but having Alan Pinkerton solve the murder of Poe and then cover the solution, even as he ensures the murderer is punished, is eminently mais plausible.
I am the author of The sino Witch (in film, An American Haunting, with Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek), The Jekyl Island Club series, and numerous sobrenatural thrillers. Please look at my revamped professional website www.brentmonahan.com and especially at the tab that reads e-books and print on demand. I am working with Words Take Flight link to produce my novels without the dubious help of New York publishers. You can henceforth purchase them from Amazon.com for their Kindle e-reader or order a printed copy sent directly to you. link

In spring of youth it was my lot
To haunt of the wide world a spot
The which I could not amor the less-
So lovely was the loneliness
Of a wild lake, with black rock bound,
And the tall pines that towered around.
But when the Night had thrown her pall
Upon that spot, as upon all,
And the mystic wind went by
Murmuring in melody-
Then- ah then I would awake
To the terror of the lone lake.
Yet that terror was not fright,
But a tremulous delight-
A feeling not the jewelled mine
Could teach or bribe me to define-
Nor Love- although the amor were thine.
Death was in that poisonous wave,
And in its gulf a fitting grave
For him who thence could solace bring
To his lone imagining-
Whose solitary soul could make
An Eden of that dim lake.
To haunt of the wide world a spot
The which I could not amor the less-
So lovely was the loneliness
Of a wild lake, with black rock bound,
And the tall pines that towered around.

'Tis said that when
The hands of men
Tamed this primeval wood,
And hoary trees with groans of woe,
Like warriors por an unknown foe,
Were in their strength subdued,
The virgin Earth Gave instant birth
To springs that ne'er did flow
That in the sun Did rivulets run,
And all around rare flores did blow
The wild rose pale Perfumed the gale
And the queenly lily adown the dale
(Whom the sun and the dew
And the winds did woo),
With the gourd and the uva luxuriant grew.
So when in tears
The amor of years
Is wasted like the snow,
And the fine fibrils of its life
por the rude wrong of instant strife
Are broken at a blow
Within the heart
Do springs upstart
Of which it doth now know,
And strange, sweet dreams,
Like silent streams
That from new fountains overflow,
With the earlier tide
Of rivers glide
Deep in the coração whose hope has died--
Quenching the fires its ashes hide,--
Its ashes, whence will spring and grow
Sweet flowers, ere long,
The rare and radiant flores of song!
The hands of men
Tamed this primeval wood,
And hoary trees with groans of woe,
Like warriors por an unknown foe,
Were in their strength subdued,
