Howard Ashman, a legend amoung disney musicians
Howard Ashman, a legend amoung Disney musicians
This is just a little blurb I had to do on a lyricist for música class. I chose Howard Ashman who helped compose and write the música for some of Disney's most memorable films.

Howard Ashman was born in Baltimore on May 17, 1951. Ashman attended school at Goddard College and Boston University. He also earned an MFA from Indiana University. In 1974 he moved to New York where he became an editor at Grosset & Dun, a United States book publisher founded in 1898.
He was a Jewish American lyricist, playwright, and director, best known for his work with Disney. Ashman received the 1989 Academy Award for Best Song for "Under the Sea," (The Little Mermaid), written with his long time partner, Alan Menken. In total, Ashman won six awards for his work on The Little Mermaid, including two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Grammy Awards. Along with The Little Mermaid, Howard Ashman worked with other disney musicians on Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

One of his greatest works was the musical version of Roger Corman's film Little comprar of Horrors, which he also worked on with Alan Menken.
He also wrote the msuci for the 1986 Broadway production of Smile, written with Marvin Hamlisch, for which he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Book.
Howard Ashman died of AIDS March, 1991.
For The Little Mermaid, Ashman and team won two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Grammy Awards.

Why are people hating on me now? What did I do all of a sudden? Wasnt I good enough?

Have you noticed that whenever a new disney film or really any film gets a lot of positive attention when it is in theaters it almost always ends up getting scrutinized again and hated on, even por those who loved it once. I understand that sometimes when you see a movie again you notice flaws you hadn't noticed before but does that mean that your whole opinion of the movie should change?
Let me give an example, Frozen.
I remember that 9 out of 10 reviews that I saw for it were very positive. After its release, I still heard almost unanimous praise and everyone that I knew who went to see it said...

So far, I only reviewed filmes which I either liked, or had at least some good aspects to point out and worked as adaptations. But there is no way I can start this one pretending not to know what the outcome will be: Oliver and Company is a really, really bad adaptation and a terrible movie. And this will be easier if I go into this trying to explain why I consider it as bad, so even if you are a fan, please urso with me. I don’t try to bash the movie, I just want to explain why it doesn’t work for me.

1. The world of Oliver and Company

To make one point clear from the start: My issue with...
