5.Fantasia (1940).

Riding high with the success of Snow White and Pinocchio,it's interesting that disney decided to do something 100% different for their third film.Fantasia doesn't have a narrative story.Heck it doesn't have any dialog apart from the host,it's just an experiment of taking classical música and combining it with great disney animation.It's not one story,it's several stories,and half the time,they're not really stories.The opening is just a collection of abstract imagery that goes along with the music,like what you're mind might be thinking when hearing it the first time.And to be honest,I freaking amor it because of that.I'm a huge sucker for orchestral música and the idea of combining it with great disney animation is a fantastic concept and they do it wonderfully.
Fantasia is a film that can be enjoyed por both adults and children.It's true that not everything seems suitable for children,but it was still an amazing piece of art,even as a teenager.
The Rite of Spring,Night on Bald Mountain and Rhapsody in Blue.Those were my all-time favorites.I was never that interested in the dancing unicórnios and the flamingo with a yo-yo, I was interested in the dramatic scenes:dinosaurs fighting each other to the death and a demon summoning his minions on topo, início of a mountain with some 19-th century heavy metal música playing in the background...which sounds like something AC/DC or metallica would do.
I appreciate the great passion that went into this movie.This movie in my opinion is perfect in every way.The music,the animation,the pacing,the speech of the host,it's all so well done!
In terms of emotional simplicity,you can argue and say that this is the movie that masters it.Where filmes like Snow-White and Pinnochio in my opinion are emotional stories,this is what I would like to call an emotional experience.It's not base on narratives as much as it is moments,and it made up a very unique moment so I don't think there's any problem putting them in the movie,especially if they o get an emotional response.Sometimes,it's making a confusing response,like the moment with the dinosaurs,while it is really impressive I never really got what to feel while watching that.Sometimes they're threatening,sometimes they're harmless and then through the course of the piece they're just gone.Even as a teenager I never really got what to think of that.It just something that happens an you draw your own conclusions.Some of them do have a flowing narrative like the most famous one "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". This is actually how the movie came about.Disney just wanted to make this short with Mickey rato as a magician .But as the expenses for it got bigger and bigger they decided to o mais of these and just turn it into a movie.The result is some grand,fantastic música with some grand and fantastic animation.
In my opinion it's Disney's most adult movie.As dark filmes like Atlantis The lost Empire and The Hunchback of Notre Dame were,dark doesn't always mean better or mais mature.This filmes is mature because they were able to turn something as simple as the falling of the leafs or the dancing flores to be so amazingly poetic that you can't help it but get yourself sucked in (unless you're a primitive jock who who doesn't care about art).
What mais can I say,this is a masterpiece of animation an one of Disney's best filmes ever.
4.Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Well,this is surprising.I know that I've talked about this movie a lot before and I said that this is my favorito childhood movie and because of that plus because of how well done it was I decided to make it my segundo favorite.
However as time went por it seemed like I started to like 2 certain filmes mais that came out a few years ago.
Does that mean I don't amor this movie? Of course not! I still do really amor this movie and it still is a big part of my childhood.
This is probably the one I have to defend the least. This one has the best cast of side characters from any disney movie.They’re just so dynamic with each other and their interactions they almost steal the show,but they don’t because the main characters are just as good.
Belle is almost too typical of a Mary Sue character,but there’s this genuine feeling she gives off;this charisma that makes us sympathize with her for being the talk of the town for being a quiet bookworm.Which is something I can relate to since my parents constantly tell me to interact with other children of my age but the thing is that as I said before I can't relate to them.
On topo, início of that she's looking for something a little mais specific then most disney female leads,and that's something greater than herself.Something grand,something spectacular,something she could barely comprehend.That's actually pretty deep for a children's film.And it also works out because it turns out what she's searching for is in the very last place she would ever look.
It also has the most solid collection of songs.Not my favorito collection,but the most, "solid." Probably what I'm most impressed por is the way it captures that fairy tale feeling.This is probably because the elements that are played up in classic fairy tales are given mais context;particularly the way the main characters amor each other.Beast and Belle are opposites and aren’t made for each other at the start,but the important part about this change is that it seems like Beast is actually trying in their relationship.He’s been deluded por so much loneliness,he literally has no idea what to do when he sees a woman and when I see someone like that actually try and make something work,it’s hard not to find compelling.Plus,I amor the way he's designed! Very big,very werewolf/lion like it's just an awesome design.And the gorgeous animation also helps to make him fell bigger and impressive.
Plus,it’s hard not to enjoy how much of a princess Belle looks.Not really from an attractiveness standpoint,but rather from a design and attitude standpoint.I mean,after cinderela or maybe Aurora or Snow White,who is the definitive disney Princess? It's Belle.There is just so much to love.There's magic,there's music,there's fun,there's anger,there's sorrow,there's sadness,there's love,and there's humanity.
However the movie still has some flaws.
For instance,they in the beginning where they narrate what happened to the prince and his servants he appeared to look quite old,maybe in his late teens like a 17-18 ano old.But during "Be Our Guest" Lumiere says that they've been stuck like that for 10 years and the enchantress who transformed the prince into a beast said that to break the spell the prince must learn to amor another and earn her amor in return before the rose's last petal falls on his 21st birthday.But if that's the case and they've been transformed for a decade then that means he was 11 years old when he was transformed! But if that's the case then why did he look so old in the beginning? Heck,even in the straigh-to-DVD sequel (which I don't consider canon) he looked like a teenager about the same age as me or maybe a little younger or older.They never explain how old he was in the beginning or give a correct amount of years they've been transformed.
I also never got how long Maurice has been out searching for Belle.From the looks of it it looks like Belle and beast have been together from fall to probably February.Does that mean that he's been searching for Belle for months? How come he hasn't been attacked por the lobos again or not collapsed earlier since he's an old man and he's definitely not the most fit person I've seen to resist the cold like that.
And my last problem with the movie is the design of the human version of Beast.The animators said that no matter what they put there the people wouldn't have been happy because we loved the Beast and not this guy.I guess I can agree with that but I don't know couldn't you have made him look mais like Eric or Kristoff or something because his design just doesn't do it for me.Plus,we fell in amor with the Beast because he's referred to as Beast.What's his real name? And no don't tell me that his name is Adam,they don't refer to him as that,not even in those piece of crap sequels so no I'm not referring to him as that too.
Well these are just minor problems.That things that are good are REALLY GOOD! And mais than enough to forgive the problems of the movie.
In my opinion it's the pure disney magic done to the absolute best! Though not my favorite.
3.Wreck-It Ralph (2012).

Now before we begin my explanation why I amor Wreck-it Ralph,I need to tell you something first to help you understand better why I amor this movie.
The last movie I managed to finish from beginning to end was Pokemon Platinum (because I replayed it) ,and the very first game I manage to finish from beginning to end was Sonic Advance 2.
You see I amor knowing about video-games.However I'm only a casual player.The only franchises I'm interested in playing are Pokemon and Sonic The Hedgehog.But just because I'm a casual player doesn't mean I don't want to know mais about other franchises.
The point of this is that when I first saw the trailers for Wreck-It Ralph back in the Fall of 2012 I was very legitimately excited to see this movie.Most of the students in my class wanted to see Hotel Transylvania and while that was a damn (sorry about that) good movie,it doesn't hold a candle to Wreck-It Ralph in my opinion.
When the movie came out the term that was thrown around the most about it is that it's the Roger Rabbit/Toy Story of video-game movies.And from the advertising it kind of looked like that.We got some sort of Donkey Kong-ish knock off suddenly interacting with all these famous video-game characters like Bowser,M.Bison,Zangief,The Pac-Man Ghost,Doctor Eggman,etc;nothing like this has ever been done in a movie,or at least not with video-games.It really was the equivalent of seeing Mickey rato and Bugs Bunny together with some elements of Toy Story,it was just so serial.However,unlike Roger Rabbit where the characters are keep popping up in the entire film,in this one it's just the beginning,because of that some people were disappointed since all of the advertisements showed video-game characters we knew.But the story,characters and themes are so good that you almost don't notice.
Much like Roger Rabbit,the movie can still stand on its own even if you didn't have those famous characters in there.
At it's core it's about a villain who has been playing that role for very long but nobody appreciates him for the hard work he does.
You really feel for Ralph's character.He's not a villain or a jerk he's just a man who's doing his job as the villain for 30 years but nobody seems to respect or appreciate him for that.
Vanneloppe is also very likable.Not just for being a cutey-pie like Anna from Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante but because there is tragedy to her,much like Ralph.Everybody around her,especially the other racers treat her like she's worthless or just a mistake when really she just wants to be accepted like everyone else (Which is something I can sympathize with).
The relationship between the two feels really genuine and it doesn't feel forced at all.
I'm also impressed that the movie has a pretty complicated story-line when you get down to it,they explain it in a very simple way.The film is very good at throwing different surprises and turns every corner and explaining how the world works.Through warp-zones and cheat-codes,you can actually change you identity and anything about your environment.Really the movie take complete advantage of what's given to them;it isn't just using popular video-game characters for nostalgic imagery,they're totally embracing the idea of what they have.Incorporating both the retro games of the past with the modern games of today.
Throughout the clever composição literária and satire though there's also a very heartfelt story between Vanneloppe and Ralph.This is the focus of the film and I applaud it for knowing where the actual focus should be.
The voice atuação in this is beyond A Escolha Perfeita I mean this quite possibly the best voice-acting I've hear in a disney movie since The Hunchback of Notre Dame.John C.Riley as the big doofus with the coração of gold.Sarah Silverman as the smart-ass,one-liner spewing but cute brat,Jane Lynch as the awesome commander with a backstory that will either make laugh or cry or both,the list goes one.The fãs always say the reason as to why the voice atuação is so good is because the voice actors look almost the same as the characters they're voicing.While I think it's just because of sheer,good talent but I think that plays a part in too.
This is one of those filmes does well at combining really great humor in with the story that it's telling,they almost go hand in hand;like something that's a pretty funny joke can also be a major plot device.The explanation as to why Vanellope can't leave the game is actually both pretty funny and really heartbreaking.Even though these are all video-game characters and you play them all the time,they're still human.
And to be honest,I thought the final monster fight with King Candy/Turbo fit in with the film.I mean,it's based on video games,it needs a final boss fight who's scary and intimidating.Sure,it didn't work perfectly,but I liked it at least.
And speaking of King Candy/Turbo,much like Callaghan from Big Hero 6,he's a good villain to show that just because you don't get appreciated for your work doesn't mean you didn't do a great job.Which leads us to the central theme of the movie:
the movie's moral is that doing the right thing isn't about winning accolades or looking like the good guy or even doing what society SAYS is good.Its about doing what you believe is the right thing even if its in defiance of people say and even if it doesn't necessarily make you look like a good guy.
What mais can I say? Yes it's really nice to see characters like Zangief and Sonic in the game (It would've blown my mind if I saw pikachu in the game),yes it's neat that they reference Lara Croft,but that's not the focus of the movie nor should it be.
2.Frozen (2013).

This wasn't surprising.Yes,seeing how much I've been praising this movie for over a ano now and obsessed over it,it's no surprise to see it so high o the list.
Well,it's really hard for me to talk about Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante since my opinion on it changes a lot depending on what I read about it.
In my "Getting to know Renegade1765 (Updated Version)" artigo I explained that it is my fourth favorito because of the flaws that it has.In my "What I Like and Dislike about Frozen" artigo I explained that the things that are good are really good and are enough for me to forgive the flaws of the movie.In my "My topo, início 5 filmes that Others Dislike/Hate but I Like/Love" artigo I explained that that I amor the movie despite it's flaws.In my original "My topo, início 10 favorito disney Movies" artigo I said that enrolados was better.In my "What I want the Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante Sequel to do" artigo I explained what flaws with the first movie I want to be fixed.In my "My Defense of Frozen" artigo I defended it against its critics.
My opinion changes A LOT about Frozen.I guess most of that has to do with how much I obsessed over it in the past ano and now it feels like it's fading away.
As of now,I amor this film.This explanation is probably the longest of the explanations,so if you’re not interested in finding out why someone who loves this movie mais than anyone else here on fanpop (And because I've written dozens of artigos about it), just skip it and say I’m falling for the Zeitgeist already.I just want people to see why I amor this movie.Yeah,maybe it’s selfish and cheesy,but I think I’m Frozen’s biggest fã on this site.
Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante has a message about how amor among family is just as strong as amor between significant others,but the cleverness about it is the other messages that are just as valid are never presented directly.A lot of people seem to think that Elsa’s turmoil represent the repressed feeling that homosexuals or other convention defying traits they may have.While I see how people could think that,it’s not what I see.Elsa and Anna are complete opposites in that they are extremely extroverted and introverted respectively.Obviously these exaggerated traits are what set the whole story into motion,but what’s so perfect about this is that neither side is ever designated as right or wrong.The film never states that one side is right much like Demolition Man and shows the consequences of both.Elsa’s introverted nature resulted in an inability to keep her powers hidden and caused this whole thing whereas Anna’s extroversion ended her up with a double-crossing amor interest and a near death experience.It never says that one side is correct,but implies that a balance is possible.Also the message Anna teaches obviously shows to be careful about whom you fall in amor with.These are messages that children need to know today considering the world is tailored in a way that urges people to completely give themselves to people without a segundo thought.(Which is another reason why I'm not a romantic person.)
The composição literária for Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is very strong.Every scene is important and contributes to the movie in one way or another without seeming too linear.There is only one or two scenes that I deem chinks in the plot armor: the lobo chase does come out of nowhere and exists mainly as transitionary filler until they meet Olaf.But at least it contributes to the story.I guess I could also deem the song "Fixer Upper" pointless because it does overstay its welcome a bit and it is my least favorito song in the movie (as well as my least favorito moment in the movie). Even then,the chase only lasts a minuto and the two of them did have a conversation prior in which they got to know each other.I actually think that the conversation in pergunta is one of the best examples of composição literária in the film.It is a prime example of Frozen’s ability to be subversive in ways that one would not expect.In the conversation on the sled,I actually was convinced that Kristoff would end up with Elsa.We all know now that he didn’t,but look closer at the scene.Kristoff tells Anna the exact same thing Elsa told her when he finds out she got engaged to Hans after just a day.He was certainly level-headed and introverted like Elsa;even to the point of his best friend being a reindeer.Plus,he’s also an ice salesman who claims, “Ice is my [his] life.” Doesn’t it make sense for the ice loving man to be with the magic ice princess? Heck,even their hair as cores match (sort of,they just have different shades of blonde). When I thought about it,Anna and Hans seemingly had the same relationship.They were both extroverts to the point of being ready to marry after one day,they both felt excluded por older siblings,and they had the same hair color.From there,you’d think Kristoff would soften Elsa’s coração realizing that someone can appreciate the beauty in the gift she thought was a curse,but that didn’t happen.Look at another scene that tries to trick you like, “Fixer Upper.” As much as I really dislike that song,the entire point of the song was to convince the audience that Anna and Kristoff were meant for each other.Then they find out that they have to kiss Hans to lift the spell.The audience assumes that the kiss won’t work because Anna and Kristoff really amor each other,they kiss,and happily ever after,but that didn’t happen.I’ve heard some people say that Elsa should have been a villain (Heck,I said the same thing too over a ano ago.) There are moments where it looks like she might such as when she summons marshmallow to get Anna away or when she almost kills the Duke’s henchmen,but that didn’t happen either.Every turn that would have seemed predictable was not taken.I feel that people would talk about how predictable the film was mais than they already do if any of these things happened.They didn’t happen because the characters are written like they’re reacting to the scenarios they’re put in.The story does not dictate what they do,but rather the other way around.Right after every character was established,the decisions and choices they made felt very natural.
Writers often say that a character is truly good when they lose control and the character starts to write itself.That is how I feel Frozen’s characters were; and there is proof that this happened when composição literária the movie.Director/Writer Jennifer Lee said in an interview that Elsa was going to be a villain,but after Let it Go was pitched to her,they reworked the story because they didn’t think Elsa would become evil given what the songwriters had written (Which would explain Elsa's lack of screen-time [I even wrote an artigo about it] but I won't complain about it). That is a great decision on the writers’ part because they were mais concerned with keeping the integrity of the character rather than satisfying some sort of formula.Whereas,even in filmes I amor such as Tangled,I felt like the characters knew the conclusion they were going to come to from the beginning,Frozen never felt like it knew how it was going to end.I really feel like I’m just watching the characters be themselves and it just makes them seem so real. It’s like how many people describe the characters of Avatar:The Last Airbender.
It’s not every dia I come across a character I almost believe that they’re real.Sure,I KNOW they aren’t,but I certainly wish they were (Elsa and Anna especially).
As I said before,my favorito characters in the movie are Elsa and Anna but I also really like most of the other characters as well.
As I just said,they feel very natural in what they do and are very relatable to me.
Anna seems to suffer from a bit of, “Tangled Syndrome,” on paper;where she acts like a typical hyper person,yet is still a self-insert for girls.Luckily it’s rather downplayed compared to Rapunzel and is giver far mais context.For one thing,we see that she was like that as a kid.I am astounded at how well the animators and writers captured Anna and Elsa as children.They act like they do as adults,yet in the minds of children so audience has no trouble believing that these two children grow up to be the people they become.As a result,her personality doesn’t seem as out of left field as it did in Tangled.When she makes a decision as stupid as getting engaged to Hans after one day,it’s believable.Plus,she’s not just quirky. She’s high energy and contagiously exciting,but also is willing to take responsibility for causing Elsa to start the winter;never going off the deep end and becoming so crazy that the audience forgets that she’s a character.
And as I said before in anterior articles,I relate a lot to Anna's character in that I'm very imaginative,clumsy,stubborn,awkward,ignorant and I can be energetic at times but only when I see something funny,and I hate rudeness and selfishness.I also view Anna as an older sister who would stand up for me an cheer me up when I'm depressed or feeling down.
As I said before,Elsa is my favorito disney character,but I won't go into full detail why I amor her so much because this artigo would take to read as watching Return of the King uncut.
Many people say that Elsa is boring,but Elsa is a very interesting character to me.She has so many emotional problems and it's so hard for her to contain,I find that really interesting.Near the beginning she was optimistic where she didn't have to hide her powers.She then hit Anna with her magic and nearly killed her and has become a very mature young lady.I find that she can contain her emotions very impressive because she had so much in her life:she almost killed her sister(out of accident);her parents died;she has to live alone for the rest of her life amongst many subjects.I don't think Elsa is a boring character at all.
There seems to be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to Elsa's strenght,in which I say ?!?!?!.I think people mistaken Elsa's vulnerability as weakness when really it just shows she's human.Although Elsa wants to be Anna just as much Anna wants to be with Elsa,she keeps herself away.When Anna says she wishes things would go back how it used to be,you can see the hurt in Elsa's eyes and how she wishes that too,but she can't because she keeps herself away from Anna to protect her.Also,Elsa was left alone in her room to suffer(but she did stuff that she liked like studying and geometry). She didn't have Anna's optimism that someday things would get better,she had the idea that she was a monster who hurt her precious sister and that's all she's going to be.
And much like Anna,I view her as an older sister who would comfort me when I'm feeling depressed or down.
Kristoff is a nice,likable counter to Anna’s bubbly nature as a good straight-man character should be.Most of the comedy that doesn’t involve him talking with Sven involves him reacting to how weird some of the things she does are.I think my favorito is his reaction when Anna tries to climb the mountain without any equipment,which is a great bit of visual humor as well.His connection with Sven also is a clever way to show how isolated he actually is from other people.It’s stuff like that that goes the extra mile that makes me appreciate the characters.
I relate to Kristoff in that I'm an introverted straight-man who's also an animal person.
Hans seems to divide the viewers because most people either saw the twist coming or think that it is a complete turnaround in terms of his character. Big surprise,I don't hate Hans and I think he's a decent character.The twist did surprise me when I first saw the movie,but I think there’s enough evidence to justify it being a well written twist.First of all,he looks like other romantic interests disney has made,so it’s not as predictable when he turns.The only other character who comes even close to his archetype is Gaston and as much as I amor him,it’s pretty obvious he wasn’t really going to be the hero.With Hans,he was a seemingly perfect match for Anna as I mentioned earlier.He was kind,suave,charming and the list of things he did to help Anna seemed endless.When Anna randomly thrusts responsibility of Arendelle on him,even though he didn’t ask for that,he was willing to do that for her.When he thought Anna was in trouble,he went up the mountain to look for her with a procurar party.He even saved Elsa’s life when the rest of the party clearly wanted her dead;he was a pretty supportive guy making his turn all the mais surprising.
However,none of these good deeds seemed out of character when he reveals his true intentions because they all supported his plan.Letting Anna go on her own was as good as killing her and bringing Elsa back to the castelo would supposedly keep her captive until he could blame Anna’s death on her and sentence her to death.Most villains tend to be very straightforward with their evil nature,as in they are easily spotted as a bad guy.Hans,although not as good a character as some of them,is less easily spotted and mais manipulative than some of the other villains.The few people who did like him as a bad guy to begin with enjoyed that he wasn’t blessed with any powers like Ursula or Maleficent and didn’t have control over anybody else like Mother Gothel or Frollo;both of which are claims I agree with.Look at it this way:he was just a guy with a sword and his wit,nothing special in terms of villainy,but he came so close to his goal despite those hindrances only por lying to people.Plus,it’s hard not to get wrapped up in how he tries to manipulate Elsa’s guilt on the Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante lake before he tries to kill her. “Your sister is dead… because of you.” The side characters like the Duke of Weselton, the Oaken, and the trolls are perfectly functional as well.Though they do feel pretty superfluous sometimes.
Sure,the trolls don’t really make as much sense in the grand scheme of things but that’s a nitpick (as is where Elsa got her powers por the way).
One of the things I’m happiest about is the way the writers chose to handle the comic relief.I amor how they follow through with the, “relief,” part of, “comic relief.” disney really exercised restraint with them and actually made them clever characters in Olaf’s case.The mais I think about him, he’s actually a really good character.The choice to make his delivery reserved and well timed versus loud and obnoxious is both a good direction for disney to take as well as a new one.He’s not like Timon and Pumba,or like Victor,Hugo and Laverne from Hunchback,nor does he feel like a retread of the good comic relief examples such as anyone from Beauty and the Beast.
Even taking that out of it,he serves a purpose other than telling jokes.From a plot perspective,he helps them find Elsa’s castelo and even saves Anna’s life after Hans betrays her, but that’s not even the best part.It’s no secret anymore that Olaf is representative of the bond that Anna and Elsa had when they were children,but I think there’s something else there too.Something people like to harp on is the idea that Elsa creates consciousness in Olaf.This is a bit of a stretch,but I’d argue that Elsa is actually controlling him subconsciously.She can control all the ice and snow she conjures up,so since she built him while cantar Let it Go,so who’s to say she isn’t controlling him without even knowing it? If it is subconscious that also would explain how she has no idea she’s doing it (controlling him). I think that makes mais sense than just creating life.Besides,Olaf does eventually find the staircase to her palace.Maybe she wanted to be found in the same way depression victims secretly want someone to empathize with them even though they don’t want to discuss their sadness.Not to mention, when he does decide to be funny,it’s never out of place or inappropriate. There are serious moments in the film that a bad writer would consider too heavy for children;and it would be easy for them to make Olaf break the tension and not let anything sink in. For example, when Anna’s coração is first Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante por Elsa, he doesn’t crack a joke or anything.The other comic relief,Sven, also exercises a lot of restraint on Disney’s part.How easy would it have been for the writers to make him talk? Very easy,but they don’t and instead choose to make Kristoff talk for him.This,again,serves mais purposes than comic relief and actually helps characterize Kristoff;not really give any deep insight,but it shows the kind of lonely goofball he is.He’s no Charles Foster Kane,but it does its job.
I don’t get when people say that the comic relief was, “obnoxious,” or distracting.I’d understand mais if they just said that Olaf wasn’t funny,because his humor obviously won’t strike a chord with everyone.
The movie is drop dead gorgeous;only complimented por brilliant cinematography.When animated films are made,I almost feel that directors forget that they are not bound por traditional camerawork conventions.They can show anything from any perspective,get any shot and any angle they want.Frozen takes advantage of this mais than any other animated film I have ever seen.My favorito example in the film is during the climax when Anna calls out to Kristoff and we get a beautiful overhead tracking shot from where Anna is standing to where Kristoff is.The shot lasts an uncomfortable amount of time;just longer than I expect it to,giving the perfect emphasis on how far away the two of them are causing the audience to think, “Oh my gosh, he’s not going to make it, is he?” There’s this primal,chilling howl that plays during this shot causing a visceral,deep tension in me.I legitimately get chills every time.In fact,this same howl plays every time the movie makes the cold seem threatening.What about other shots like showing Anna and Kristoff just walking over a mountain?That was just as good as the shot of the Fellowship of the Ring travelling over the mountains.What about the whole Let it Go sequence? Even before all the ice magic happens and Elsa starts cantar there is a vast,empty backdrop of the mountains that goes on and on.It’s just so effective for me that I may as well be watching the song from 5 feet away on topo, início of that freezing mountain feeling the wind with her.But,this stuff is just cinematography,as in (because it’s animated) nonexistent camerawork.I know that I throw around a lot of “one of the best” and “best ever”s, but it is no exaggeration that Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is one of the best animated disney filmes ever.I get that other disney filmes have fantastic animation in their own right:Tarzan swiftly moving around the trees,the as cores in Pocahontas,the Hellfire scene from Hunchback,but Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is the only computer animated film that I felt ever fully embraced the medium of CG animation.The closest I’ve seen is How to Train Your Dragon 2 because it showed just how realistic CG can be,but I still like the way Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante still tried to look like a traditional animated film better.Even in Tangled,it felt like it started as a hand drawn film and the animators were told to change it during production.Frozen takes advantage of just how detailed the animation can be and how dynamic the extra dimension can make the environments feel.Everyone’s talked about the animation on the ice and snow and how wonderful it is…could be because it’s true.People who worked on the movie proudly reported many times that they watched snow mover around to appropriately capture its movements and it shows.The snow bunches up and acts like powder as it’s supposed to.It even sticks to clothing. The animators literally walked around in snow wearing skirts to see how it would behave.Olaf is composed of particularly well-animated snow.I noticed on multiple occasions that individual flakes would shine like real snow does,rather than just make him completely white.It’s mais obvious in some scenes over other ones,but the point still stands.Something disney has never had trouble with is giving the world color when it needs it,and Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is no exception.All the characters are designed in a way that makes them pop.Anna’s magenta capa especially stands out as a nice contrast to the snowy environments.If you notice,the snow is never just solid white while Anna and Kristoff explore the mountains.There’s always a shade of rosa, -de-rosa or cyan to go with it and are absolutely perfect compliments to the visual.When Olaf is first introduced,the ice hangs from the branches of the trees in little Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante droplets and when he is impaled,the icicles are formed horizontally with a stunning light blue hue.
And,of course,Elsa’s ice palace.Oh my goodness,Elsa’s ice palace!
Right from when she builds it,it’s immediately impressive animation.The way it raises out of the snow,the way the additions are created out of nothing,the way the as cores splash into the floor,the way her magic travels up the walls to create the roof,and the chandelier she creates are all well animated and simply beautiful to look at.The inside carries this ambience and atmosphere that at times I felt like I was whisked away to the Crystal Palace from Paper Mario.The beautiful wide shots inside show all that she’s build in its spacious,cyan splendor.Every frame looks so clean and beautiful.I amor that every time it is shown from the inside,a new color is shining through.When Anna arrives, everything is crystal blue,when Elsa is fruitlessly trying to control herself,everything is dark red and black, when the guards attempt to kill her,it’s a muddled yellow splashed in the blue.There’s this elegance and mystique to it, for there’s only so many times I can say that it looks beautiful.What I amor also is the way the ice and snow itself seems to be its own entity.At times the winter sounds inviting and other times it seems frightening.As the story continues and Elsa’s sanity starts to dwindle,the ice and snow becomes mais vicious and furious,especially during the climax.The ice seems to be out to stab the characters and the snow furiously blows around in a storm. When Anna’s skin starts to freeze,she doesn’t just turn to ice immediately. Her skin turns white,the markings of Elsa’s magic appear on her,the tips of her fingers turn blue,and her hair changes even unhealthier shades of white.The ice magic seems so violent and sickening that way;like it’s a real disease.I guess the one thing wrong with the animation is that Elsa’s hair swings through her arm…but that’s not even a segundo long.(Blink and you miss it.)
Now as a disney musical I’d most likely enjoy the songs anyways,but I still think that Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante has some really great music.
Songs are subjective in terms of sound,but I like the way they’re written musically.I find that any criticism of them comes from the fact that 5 of them are shoved into the first 30 minutes.For someone who only watched the film many times,I can understand not remembering some of the songs,but only because they happen almost immediately after one another.Most of that has to do with Frozen's bad pacing.
Granted aladdin did this too por having "Friend Like Me","Prince Ali", and "A Whole New World" take place with very little time between them,but I’m not talking about that right now.I also think that songs wouldn’t fit into the narrative if they were placed anywhere than exactly where they are,so I don’t really care if over half the songs are in the first third.I get that listening to them time and time again would get grating,but I think that’s all personal taste.People inevitably get sick of something if they’re constantly exposed to it,yet the quality of the medium in pergunta never actually changes.With all that said,the songs actually are some of my personal favorites,3 of them to be precise:"Do You Want To Build a Snowman","For the First Time in Forever" and of course,"Let It Go".
"Do You Want to Build a Snowman" is my 10th favorito disney song.It’s got the biggest job as a song besides "Let it Go".It has to cram all this exposition and character development into 3 and a half minutes,but it doesn’t do too badly.
I like how the música “grows up” with the sisters.It starts and ends with soft piano,yet the emotions are totally different.When it starts,it’s filled with childlike innocence,but it turns into morose tragedy por the ending after their parents die.I like these two verses best.The first one is really adorable…I guess I just think little Anna is cute.The last verse is one of my favorito moments in the film.The dramatic turn is just as sudden for the audience as it is for the characters;kind of making them pergunta how just a minuto atrás everything was pretty happy.Anna and Elsa are now without parents and have no idea what they’re going to do.You feel that Anna’s been banging her head against the mural trying to connect with her sister,yet she still tries anyways because Elsa’s all she has now,so she asks her the same pergunta she asked her when she was a child:Do you Want to Build a Snowman? I amor the shot when Anna sits down and shows Elsa is doing the exact same thing on the other side of the door.That was a great moment and one of the saddest I've seen in Disney.
"For the First Time in Forever" is among the better songs in the movie.However,I don’t really get into the lyrics and orchestration until the first chorus is over.It’s not even that bad and holds the thematic elements it needs to,but it just doesn’t feel that it’s going all out in those moments.The rest of the song mais than makes up for that though.It has probably my favorito orchestration of all the songs bar Let it Go and introduces the character to the duality that has grown in Anna and Elsa as they grew up por having them react to the same event in different ways.I amor how quickly the song turns from Anna being ecstatically eager to Elsa being worried and reserved.
In my personal opinion,Anna’s eagerness is a lot mais fun to listen to in this instance.Though I think it's because this is mostly Anna's song,but I amor the parts with Elsa as well.
The songs in Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante are a cut above the rest,but I intentionally saved the best for last.Yeah,I really like most of the other songs,but "Let it Go" is on a whole different level than almost every other disney song.It's my all-time favorite.
Now I will get straight to the point of why I amor this song instead of getting into full detail because we would be here all day.Plus I've written an artigo about "Let It Go" as well I explained in full detail in my "My topo, início 5 favorito disney Songs" article.So there's no point in doing so here.
"Let It Go" was the signature song in Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante for conveying just how close Elsa was to completely "losing herself." por pushing everybody she knew away from her,she was losing her soul and her humanity.
I also said that "having power" should make one wary.Way too often,like I said,the emphasis is placed on the empowerment feelings,while neglecting the slippery slope that actually awaits.
It’s perfect,plain and simple.The escalation all comes to a head and delivers on the newfound joy Elsa’s expressing,resulting in that great zoom out shot of Elsa’s castle, followed por my favorito moment in the movie.May sound silly,but the little sneer Elsa has when saying, “The cold never bothered me anyway,” is awesome.The música cuts to a dull sustained tone and everything quiets down.It’s hard to pinpoint why the line itself is so perfect,but it really rolls off the tongue.Heck,I really like the Demi Lovato version of this song that plays in the credits. Yes,it's not as good in comparison to the original in every possible way,but I found it a good way to begin the credits.It’s hard to offer quantifiable evidence as to why a disney song is good.Anyone can say they like the way a song sounds,that’s why every person has a different list of their favorites.It’s just hard to leave it strictly at subjective reasons when trying to describe a film that people dismiss as objectively bad with subjective reasons.People can say that "Let it Go" is a horribly written pile of junk… because it just is. They can take the piss out of the fans,but the segundo we call them out on their actions we’re suddenly attacking them for their opinion when really we just hate that they’re jerks about it.If I had to agree with the minutest criticism of it,I’ll say that the lyrics are extremely open ended if you don’t hear them in context.Without it,the lyrics are just about letting go of problems that you’ve had to repress.That’s why I think it’s become such a phenomenon for teenage and adult fans:because a bunch of selfish punks on Tumblr see a fantastic character cantar a great song about releasing her inner anguish and all they do is think about how it applies to them.As much as I believe there is legitimately no reason to think this is a bad song,I 100% get if people hate the fãs who like it for the wrong reasons.
Take Let it Go out of the equation though.There are objectively good things about each song:they all contribute to the characters and/or storytelling.
Now the movie is not without it's flaws and they're pretty big ones,but I've already talked a lot about them before,so I won't waist your time.But I will address one criticism about the movie that everyone harps on...the parents.
Many people call the king and queen to be morons for doing that to Elsa and Anna in the first place,but I have a very logical theory that makes sense.
People like to harp on the choice the parents make to keep Elsa as a recluse because it causes unnecessary psychological damage and makes it seem Elsa inexplicably doesn’t like Anna anymore.
Call me a bad parent,but it makes perfect sense from a royalty perspective.
First of all,her powers would be considered witchcraft and everyone would be afraid of her At least,that’s what happens when she unleashes her power in the movie.I also think the politics of the matter play into their choice.As king and queen they have a certain image to keep up.I find it hard to believe that rulers of other kingdoms would be able to andorinha the news that Arendelle is housing a child who can control ice.Chances are someone would think Elsa is being trained as some sort of weapon and have a violent reaction.I mean,the Duke of Weselton was perfectly ready to kill Elsa when he found out she had powers anyways,so he’d probably do the same thing if they weren’t kept a secret. Keeping Elsa’s powers a secret would probably have been less harmful to her than the alternative.Even taking that out of it they had no idea that Elsa wouldn’t be able to conceal her power.At the time,for all they knew it would only be a few years or months for her to learn because they had no idea how the powers worked or how to control them.Taking all of those things out of it,I’d say that it is entirely possible that her parents just made a decision without knowing if it would work.They were completely in the dark as to how far Elsa’s powers could go,so I’d say that they just made a bad decision like real people do when they don’t have all the information they need.
Plus,we see the parents help multiple times over the years without giving up on Elsa.
Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is a very close segundo for me.I would like to put it as Number 1,but there's a movie that I like more.,and I'm sure you all know what it is.
1.The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Hands down,one of my favorito filmes of all-time.
If you remember the "5 Reasons why The Hunchback of Notre Dame is Disney's Most Underrate Gem" artigo that I wrote but sadly got taken down I explained why The Hunchback of Notre Dame was my favorito disney movie.
I will try to explain my reasons in a similar way without seeming like I copy and pasted it.
With that said,let's begin:
If you read some of my anterior artigos then you might remember that I consider this to be one of Disney's best animated movies.However,that's not the case with others.I've met some people who aren't renting jerks but actually nice people who said that the movie was too flawed or that it was too dark for them to get into.Now I understand different tastes and that it wasn't their cup of tea,but in my opinion that makes it all the mais unique.
While it shows the themes of genocide,prejudice and damnation with some of the darkest imagery disney ever made,it certainly doesn't talk down to its audience.It has its flaws,but every disney movie has them and this movie is no exception.I think the reason why it has it's flaws it's because of how many chances they took with this.I mean in what other disney animated movie do you see temptation,lust,damnation,religious imagery,etc? But in my opinion,it works to its advantage.I'll talk about that later.
Let's talk about what I amor about it.
The animation here is first rate and the entire thing is shot like a live-action film with some incredible long shots,great theatrical panning and even at one point,during Quasimodo's song "Out There" a realistic camera flare (I did a double take the first time I saw it!) Hunchback is filled with all sorts of great "tricks" like this.Lighting effects here are nothing short of magnificent–often subtle they sometimes change in an instant dramatically altering the mood of the piece.Frollo's demonic song "Hellfire" is perhaps one the most sinister and frightening moments to emerge from disney and the animators let loose.
The serious themes that this film addresses make for some of the most powerful,sophisticated scenes,songs,and characters in a disney film.
I amor the characters of this movie very much.Well,mostly three of them:Quasimodo,Frollo and Esmeralda.These three are some of my favorito disney characters ever.
Our protagonist,Quasimodo,is a victim of prejudice who spends his days in the sino tower of Notre Dame,cloistered away for his deformed appearance.His burning desire to live among “normal” people inspires the moving song “Out There,” a heart-wrenching musical portrait of hopeful longing,figuratively painted on the gorgeous canvas that is the soaring cathedral.
Quasimodo’s thirst for a world beyond the sino tower leads to an encounter with the kind,beautiful gypsy Esmerala,who soon captures the coração of not only Quasimodo,but the coração of a mais sinister character as well.
Quasimodo is a brilliant disney hero.His alienation is easy to relate to,and yet he's still alien enough for one to feel so sorry for him.He's just so tragic.
His unrequited amor for Esmerelda as she runs off with someone resfriador, refrigerador and better looking is something we can all relate to.
I quite like how the ending is part conventional for disney and part not.Yes,the pretty heroine gets the knight in shining armor,but at the same time the real leading man doesn't have to be paired off with a beautiful leading girl in order to end up happy.
A good deal of the film’s drama stems from how two characters-one pure and lowly,one twisted and haughty-respond to and act on the same emotional stimulus.
Esmerelda gives the movie some of its most emotional moments atuação as what appears to be the only kind hearted person in Paris.She’s strong,brave,and selfless.In her most triumphant moment she is the only one willing to stand up to Frollo as he has allowed Quasimodo to be tortured por the public.For Quasimodo,she acts as the one person willing to show him compassion,willing to look past the deformity.She shows him that there is good in the world.For us,the audience,she is the one truly selfless individual in the film.She cares for Quasimodo,as much as we do at that point,and serves as our voice in sympathizing with Quasimodo. As an audience,we can’t voice our opinions on the cruelty that we watch him face,and so she serves as our way of communicating our feelings.
Phoebus,the only seemingly stereotypical disney character in the whole film,not that that’s a bad thing.
Phoebus serves as our traditional knight in shining armor,yet he begins the film working for Frollo.Instead of watching our hero swoop in to save the dia like we’d expect,we watch as he transitions from a uniform following orders to a real person who isn’t willing to just follow orders thoughtlessly.Instead,he realizes that what Frollo wants to do is wrong and cruel and he decides that he will not be a part of it.In his climactic moment,Frollo commands him to burn down a windmill with a family still inside,but he refuses. Frollo then does it himself before Phoebus charges in,risking his own life to save the family.What makes Phoebus unique from the normal hero is not his deeds,but the way in which he watch him find his own moral values along the way.
And I know a lot of people got angry that he got Esmeralda instead of Quasimodo,but think about this.Quasimodo viewed Esmeralda as an angel,Frollo viewed Esmeralda as a demon,but Phoebus viewed Esmeralda as a human being.Of course she chose him.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame sports who is in my opinion,the most evil disney villain to date:Judge Claude Frollo.
What makes Frollo truly terrifying as an antagonist is that he pursues evil not for the sake of being evil,but because he fervently believes he is atuação under God’s authority.It is when sinful thoughts enter his mind that he panics and seeks to rid himself of the fonte of his sin,the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda.It is this internal struggle that prompts the best disney villain song of all time:“Hellfire.”
And as for the music,in my opinion,The Hunchback of Notre Dame has the BEST soundtrack I've ever heard in a disney movie.The songs in this movie are just wonderfully sung,amazingly orchestrated,have deep meaning,gorgeously animated,well shot and just all around bombastic and amazing.
Much like Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante I will only be talking about my 3 favorito songs in the movie because this artigo would take forever for you to read.
"Bells of Notre Dame":In my opinion,the best opening sequence in any disney movie,ever.The movie starts out with quiet choirs in the backgrounds with bells sounding,but then,it turns into one of the most epic compositions in disney history.That choir,not just in the song,but throughout the movie,is just awesome.It makes everything seem so massive and gigantic.Which is very fitting since the movie itself is just huge.This song basically tells the story and explains what the characters and why/how everything happened.The scene with the Notre Dame's towers being in the clouds,getting closed in while that massive choir is cantar in the background makes the Notre Dame feel like it IS the house of God,the movie treats it with importance,as something massive and powerful but not vengeful,which how many people describe God himself.What I also amor about it is what comes next.Clopin describes Paris to be reliant on the bells.That before the Eiffel Tower,the Notre Dame cathedral was Paris' symbol.And the fact of how grand it makes it seem it gives the impression that the people being reliant on the bells is basically them believing in God.
That scene when Frollo appears riding on his horse with Clopin cantar gives us the idea of who Frollo is and it does it beautifully.Clopin describes him as "a figure who's clutches were high as much as the bells of Notre Dame",that "Frollo saw corruption every where,except within". This basically describes Frollo's character in a clever way that Frollo is a high athoritarian person who's words can be powerful to the people and he doesn't see evil within him,but within everything else.
And that scene when the statues of Notre Dame are literally starring at him,again,gives us the idea that this place is indeed powerful because this is the "House of God".
And that ending with Clopin hitting the high notes at the end always gives me goosebumps.
If I have to choose a word to describe this song,it would be "Epic".
"God Help the Outcasts":This song is really spectacular.Let me give you a little bit of a story first.Back inn my 7th grade,my classmates were accusing me of taking a few pictures of a girl that I had a crush on.They looked at me like I was a rapist or a criminal when I couldn't help it.I felt so insulted,that when I got home,I listened to this song while crying because I thought of myself as an outcast,that nobody wanted me.
Demi Moore NAILS this song.
It's a really beautiful song and I hope people will give it mais attention.
"Hellfire":Granted it's in a children's movie and a disney one at that,but this song really took chances and explored the torcered mind of Disney's best villain.
It's centered around Judge Frollo,who has fallen into an uncontrollable lust with the gypsie fugitive Esmeralda.And even though he's not a priest in this version,he still considers himself to be very religious.And his unpure thoughts about the woman sends him into an ethical battle from hell.
I think the people in the red and shady robes are one of the best parts of it.They symbolize the jury and court.Remember,Frollo is a judge,and in the song,he considers himself to be the "victim". I think a lot of children got scared at this part and I don't blame them.
It's an interesting song too because he doesn't sing about how evil he is but rather enxada he slips slowly into deep madness brought out por his sexual desire.And the only cure for that is to destroy the obsession itself,or rather herself.
As far as children's films go,it has all the no-noes.Half-naked women,sexual cravings,religious taboos and all under the name of the mouse.
This is the most well thought out of and dramatic one of the songs in the movie and its visuals match the lyrics and música perfectly.
What also works very well is that the song right before this one,Heaven's Light (also an underrated song),which had a very similar meaning to it,except that in this song,Quasimodo views her as an angel who will end his years of torment,while Frollo views her as a demon who tries to trick him and must be destroyed.
I amor that these two songs are together.Both of them are in amor with Esmereda,but Quasimodo's is a pure and selfless love,believing it to be sent from heaven.Frollo on the other hand is filled with hateful and selfish desire,and thinks it's sent from hell to destroy him.They both want her,but the way they show it just is an amazing contrast between the two characters and their natures.
All three are amazing pieces of music,and deserve all of the praise that they get.
The voice atuação in this,much like in Wreck-It Ralph is beyond pitch-perfect.I mean talk about getting the absolute right people to voice these characters.Tom Hulce as the shy and naive but kindhearted and torcered soul.Demi Moore as the strong and selfless fugitive,Kevin Kline as the commander who knows when orders go to far,Tony gaio, jay as the vengeful judge who thinks he's doing the word of God,they're all fantastic.
The climax of the movie is my all-time favorito in a disney movie.The background song "Sanctuary is one of the most,epic and huge themes that I have ever heard.And the visuals and choreography match the música perfectly.The jokes are funny;and the scene where the people of Paris are standing up to Frollo,the scene where Quasimodo is breaking out of his chains,the scene where he rescues Esmeralda and shouts Sanctuary,the scene where Esmeralda spits on Frollo's face as a way of rejecting him,the scene where the melted copper is leaking out of the gargoyles from the cathedral are all some of the most epic moments I've seen in a disney movie.
Much like Bambi,the sheer size of this movie makes everything seem so much mais grand and important.
Now as I said the movie is not without its problems but their very minor.
For instance the relationship between Esmeralda and Phoebus is not very interesting.They just sort of spew one-liners to each other.But they do still take time for their relationship to grow,it's like they meet and suddenly their in love.
And of course,the gargoyles (Not to be confused with the other Disney's Gargoyles from the TV show.) Victor,Hugo and Laverne.A lot of people hated and still hate these three and call them to be some of the most annoying disney characters ever.
However,and I know I'm going to get a lot of weird looks for this,but I actually like the gargoyles.
The people who hate them say that they're constantly saying that people should judge Quasimodo for how he looks,but that's not the case.What they actually say in "A Guy Like You" is that Quasimodo is a great person because unlike other people who all look the same,he's different and he should cherish it.
Because Quasimodo has been raised with discipline and with the idea that he's a monster (much like Elsa),I think it's nice that there were people in his life who thought otherwise.
They even get some really good lines in my opinion:
"Victor:Okay.Okay Quasi,we'll leave you alone.
Hugo:After all we're only made of stone.
Laverne:We just thought that maybe you were made of something stronger.
Laverne especially has the best lines between the three which shows her as mais of a "grandmother" type.Part of that has to do with the fact that,while Frollo raised him very strictly as well shunned him from the world,the gargoyles were Quasimodo's only companionship,and seeing what he's been through,of course they befriended and supported him all the way through.
I have a theory about why they as well as the gargoyle that Frollo was hanging onto before he fell into hi death were alive in the movie.
When I read Roger Ebert's review of this movie,he said this:
"The cathedral itself is a character in the film, with its rows of stone saints and church fathers, and its limitless vaults of shadows and mystery."
This intrigued me.My theory is that God saw the misery of Quasimodo's life so he brought "his house" to life to make Quasimodo's life easier.The gargoyles are alive because they are there to be Quasimodo's companionship for all the misery in his life;they're supportive,respectful and caring towards Quasimodo because that's their purpose.And they turn to stone because they were made to be seen por Quasimodo and no one else.There's also proof of the cathedral being alive when the statues are staring at Frollo in the beginning or when the gargoyle that Frollo was hanging onto came to life and growled at him.
This further proves that the "House of God" has power.
Also,if they wouldn't have been included in the movie,this film would never have been released do to how controversial it is.
My last problem is that a lot of people were turned off por this adaptation because of of how much it deviated.But personally I think it works for it.
disney has deviated from the fonte material multiple times and this isn't new.Actually,I think it's better than the original story.
I know,that an EXTREMELY bold claim,but that's honestly how I feel.
I've read the original story and let me tell you,Darren Aronovsky's Requiem for a Dream got nothing on it.
But even then,in my opinion this movie is an underrated MASTERPIECE of animation and deserves to be acknowledged por others.
Well,I guess this is the end.I'm very sorry if I bored you all with how long both of these were,but you have to understand that I tried my hardest to explain my reasons for loving these filmes and it's not my fault that the turned out so long.But I still hope you enjoyed them.
