Trying to calm down a dog who gets scared por the loud noise of fireworks wasn't easy. Posted over a year ago

OMG, I know that pain. My dog is always so scared por fireworks. Our vet said we just can't pay attention to him, so dog can see that nothing is going on and be a little calmer seguinte time. over a year ago
LupinPrincess commented…
That's true, you shouldn't baby a dog while its being fearful, like u shouldn't pet it or try to comfort them, because the petting will actually transfer as praise, so the dog will think you are actually encouraging it to behave fearfully over a year ago
MaidofOrleans commented…
Another thing you can do is positive reinforcement, so anytime the dog hears a firework you give him a treat. Over time the dog will come to associate the fireworks with the treats and not be scared of them. You have to be careful though because you don't want to reward the dog's fearful reaction so you have to give it the treat before it can really react. over a year ago

Sorry guys I just need to rant for a sec about something totally unrelated to the DPs. I was at a barbecue for the 4th of July yesterday and one of the people there started talking about how rap isn't music. Anytime someone says this I get REALLY mad, and I've been stewing over it ever since. A friend, my brother, and I argued with her but couldn't change her mind. It's not that I amor rap or anything, in fact it's my segundo least favorito genre of music, but I do *continues in comments* Posted over a year ago

recognize that it is an art form that takes a lot of talent and can hold a lot of beauty. She was saying that rap is just someone talking, and that talking isn't music. I'm like oh really, so when we talk we rhyme and speak to a specific beat and a specific tempo? NO we don't! Rapping is incredibly difficult, as anyone who has ever tried it probably knows, unlike talking which comes naturally to us. Just because a lot of younger people like it, doesn't mean it is bad música or not música at all. Young people can have refined tastes too. over a year ago

I will admit I'm not the biggest fã of Harry Potter but how come certain Christians have a problem with Harry Potter but not Disney? If they don't think children should read or watch Harry Potter then they shouldn't watch The Wizard of Oz or disney movies. Those filmes have magic in it as well. Posted over a year ago
rapunzelsgold_ commented…
Most likely because Harry Potter deals with reality and "dark" magic. The Death Eaters have a certain leader (Voldemort-Satan) who has a symbol for their group (Dark Mark-Pentagram) and a bunch of followers trying to declare purity (blood purity). over a year ago

I'm a complete Potterhead (I'm a really huge fan, I obsess over the series as much as I obsess over Disney, or maybe even more), but although it's not my parents' cup of tea, they would never forbid me from leitura it. The arguments that these Christians use are honestly ridiculous. Oh and there's actually a fã fiction someone wrote, it's called "Hogwarts School of Prayer and Miracles" and it's really funny, even though I think that the author didn't write it as a joke, but because she really thought that the real HP series would corrupt the children or something like that. over a year ago

I just saw Inside Out yesterday, and that's the most I've cried all year. I cried during "Lava," when Riley started becoming mais detached from her family, seeing her family memories, when BingBong died, and when she came back home. It made me realize how detached we (and I) become from our families, and our friends. Overall, I think pixar really outshined itself with making anther movie that wasn't a remake or prequel/sequel. Do you guys know what to do when Pages (on Mac) rewrites itself and deletes new history you added to the file? How to get the erased history back? (Because the file seemed to have guarded itself being one of its oldest versions). Posted over a year ago

Did you try to turn off your computer and "trick" the program Pages into thinking some file history was going to be deleted? Because if one of the files does not save properly, sometimes you can get an "error" message during shut-down, saying one of your programs has not finished saving and you'll lose "existing" data. Or, if that didn't work, these guys seem to have some suggestions--> link over a year ago

The dialogue is also really clever and there are lots of really funny moments. but... *adds mais in the seguinte comment* Posted over a year ago

The bad: As with a lot of other pixar movies, I feel like they do better with concepts than with characterization -- I couldn't really get into any of the characters (not even Riley); I liked them better as ideas than people. And there's the familiar pixar "we are trying to teach you something; every moment of this movie is going to be deep" vibe that kind of smothers the storytelling -- I don't dislike learning, duh, but the way it's done here reminds me of Wall-E. Very slick and inorganic and not a little self-important. But I think it's worth seeing at least once and I'm glad I did. over a year ago

The characters are all really likable. I mean, Fear, Anger, and Disgust do annoy me a little bit but they're still pretty likable and only do what they do because they care about Riley and want to protect her and make her happy. I feel like, from what I've seen of fãs so far, that I'm the only one who loves Joy. I feel like she's the most layered out of all of them and she does really develop and learn to accept other emotions. Plus, she's not doing what she does out of selfishness like Merida did, she's doing it because she just wants to save Riley emotionally. Sadness is also a great character and she really helps even out Joy's optimism with her pessimism. Riley is also a likable character because you really see what she's going through. She's not just a blank slate like Andy from Toy Story or a plot device like Penny from Bolt, you really get to feel her emotional struggle, a lot like you do with Odette from The cisne Princess. Plus she has a very likable personality. over a year ago

The only thing Valente did better was that I like Merida and Elinor's relationship mais than Joy and Sadness (which was still great) and I like the mais realistic and detailed animation in Valente than I do in Inside Out. The treatment of the men in Valente as either comic relief or dumba**es didn't help me feel better. I thought depicting men as incompetent and just a bunch of macho with 'the burn to kill," was heavy-handed. por making the guys seem so dumb, the women seemed "intelligent" por contrast, so... this still makes me feel "eh" about the movie. But at least they made Merida and Elinor fleshed out characters. Merida used to be my least favorito for a while, before I joined Fanpop. over a year ago

I like the characters, music, animation, and I think it's a nice filmes but the plot and villain are what I like less. The plot is not so original or interesting to me and Mor'du isn't much of a villain to me but the film isn't bad but I've never really loved it. I amor Merida but her movie doesn't really catch my attention. over a year ago

Has anyone else ever disliked a DP, only to suddenly change their opinions on them for the better? Because I think that's happened to me with Cinderella... for a really long time she's been in my bottom three, and I've criticized her a lot, but after thinking about it and rewatching some of her scenes I actually quite enjoy her character. Oh, I loved 101 dalmations as a kid. I still think Glenn Close nailed the spirit of Cruella in the live action version. But since they are remaking it yet again... I hope they don't pick somebody who does not "fill" the role. Glenn Close was AMAZING!!! over a year ago

Today one of the girls at my school was like "Did you know Rapunzel is the only princess who doesn't marry a guy the same dia he meets him?", and I was like, "Darling, please *roll eyes".

(Well, actually I tried to explain that she was wrong, starting por naming another example - Belle, in this case - and she said "She wasn't a princess". por this point I was already wondering why did I even bother. Then I said that none of them actually marries the dia she meets her prince and *more* Posted over a year ago

her response was "What about Snow White?". I tried to explain that no, Snow White does not marry the Prince right awa. I hate to start a fight but why it is okay for a woman to save a man but not okay for a man to save a woman? I think that is hypocritical & sexist. This post was inspired por Mongoose09's defense of the classic princesses article. Posted over a year ago
Aang_Lite commented…
The problem isn't that men can't save women, but that it's assumed in a lot of older filmes that these ladies have no other choice than to be saved. For a good amount of western history, the perfect woman was a small, demure, virgin girl who would never hurt a fly. Now there's nothing wrong with that per say, but if you follow that descrição of a woman to a tee, there isn't much room left for defending yourself. And as a result, it's assumed that you don't have the capability to defend yourself, making women less agent beings, and mais objects to be acted upon. So to answer your question, having a man save a woman isn't wrong, but we can't ignore the history of women subjugation either. over a year ago

For those of you who don't know, I'm a major Tarzan fangirl (everybody probably already knows this, but...), and I whilst I amor Tarzan TO DEATH as a movie, I really hate how they make the animais talk, even if they're not speaking English. Which, you know, is a common theme in disney filmes and probably why I don't like a lot of them. Does that bother anyone else or am I just weird in that regard?
