10. Aladdin
9. the Little Mermaid
8. ?

I'm torn between PatF, Cinderella, and Mulan. But Cinderella has Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, which always impresses me, and Mulan has the scenes with the huns, so I like it. PatF isn't inventive or fresh it's basic Disney animation. It does use green and yellow in interesting ways, and the transformation scene is nice (but we've already seen a similar one in Swan Princess). So it just doesn't impress me.

EDIT: I've decided I'm a bit more impressed by PatF's use of colour and the voodoo/Almost There animation than Mulan's. I like the style, but it's not very impressive.

I know I said Tangled before but now that I think about it. The emotions on the characters face were really impressive. Also for the lantern scene and how they animated Rapunzel's hair. I completely didn't think about those when I made my pick. But maybe I'll still vote for it next because there are so many interesting scenes of animation in Disney movies. It's a hard to choose countdown. Patf is impressive, but not really compared to the others.

But only in comparison... the other seven all have really stunning animation, and I can't really say that about Mulan.

One of my personal favorite styles, but other than a few climactic moments, nothing you could really call impressive.
Princess and the Frog actually has some really impressive moments to me. Fist, there's Almost There, which is a bit like a smaller-scale Sleeping Beauty, in as much as it makes it look like the flier (or whatever you would call it) is set in motion. That is very impressive. Also, there are the voodoo scenes. At the end, when the talisman is broken, there are the spirits (I guess) that come out and all the colorful stuff zooming around, and it is very different from the other style. It makes a very good contrast. However, the most impressive thing in Princess and the Frog for me is Friends on the Other Side. At the end, when Naveen is transformed, and there are all the voodoo spirits, that is very impressive, especially Facilier's face with all of the colorful things moving while his face is moving. It looks like a Dia de los Muertos mask set in motion. It's not as loudly impressive as, say, Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast, but it certainly has many smaller impressive moments.

You don't see me insulting you for your opinion and trust me there's a lot that I could say about it and not just this opinion but others you have. Get over yourself and same goes for your little followers. Get over it, move on, cry a stinkin river of tears, build a bridge, make it a toll bridge and make some money off it, AND GET OVER IT!

This movie used great colors and pictures. But it's not impressive when compared to the others, and I feel horrible for saying this, especially seeing in the time when it was built. But I have to vote on animation, not on history.

@KataraLover- Way to make a big fool out of yourself. You're being a hypocrite, seeing that your blaming someone else for freaking out- which they are not, where YOU are the one who's 'freaking out'.

hajirah don't you try to pull that crap on me. I have a right to freak out right now. For the past two rounds I've just shared my opinion about why I think Sleeping Beauty is the least impressive in animation and they start attacking me like I'm some kind of freak of nature. I was attacked first by people freaking out so don't you dare even think about turning this on me.

@KataraLover Looking back on previous rounds, I have noticed you did your fair share of attacking, for example calling people blind, basically saying they were "brainless" and stating they need to get help for being impressed by Sleeping Beauty's animation. Perhaps you were being over dramatic for the purpose of making a point, but you were unnecessarily vicious compared to other commenters. Plus very few comments were replying to you, let alone attacking you. Don't play the victim.

KataraLover picked a bela adormecida:
Oh I would love to not play victim if it wasn't for the simple fact that I am. I don't mean to sound like some kid in preschool but your group started it first. Also I never said anyone was blind, I was naming the simple fact of why I find the animation dull, since you guys act like it's absolutely impossible for anyone not to like the animation. I know tons of people who don't like the animation because of how dull it is. I'm only acting dramatic because I'm just defending myself and you guys are acting like I'm the bad guy here.

@KataraLover -You were also treating the others as freaks of nature for liking Sleeping Beauty's animation. I quote

'Those of you freaking out because I call Sleeping Beauty's animation bland and plain I have two things to say. First GET OVER IT and secondly GET SOME HELP! ' -KataraLover
'Mongoose09 obviously your the one smoking something. Get over yourself you idiot!' -KataraLover
'Why do I bother commenting when I'm surrounded by a much of people the the brains of One Direction fan girls?' -youguessedit

... whereas the only slightly vicious comment was Mongoose09 asking you for what you were smoking,
seeing that you said that the animation of SEQUELS were better than art of a person (that animated the movie) who has over 5 of her own amusement parks, DEDICATED to her, by Walt Disney. Good ol' Walt has SUCH bad taste in animation, amirite KataraLover? Heck, she got her own Google Doodle.

Now, should I copy and paste the VICIOUS comments that the attackers and this 'victim' posted? 'Cause most of them proves my point.

I'm older than you kid! Secondly I was also attacked just because I said I thought some Disney sequels had better animation than Sleeping Beauty but whatever. It's clear I'm not going to win because of how stubborn you and your group is. So you, Mongoose09, and Swanpride don't bother to comment about my feelings about Sleeping Beauty because I'm going to for once do the mature thing and just simply ignore you. I'm going to be the bigger person, unlike some of you.

@KataraLover -Why, thank you for the compliment. Now that I know your older than me, I know I am much more mature than your age, which gives me quite much pleasure. If you wanted to be a bigger person, than you could've done it a long time ago. Now, you just don't have any more comments to support yourself, so you're acting like a child and putting in this bigger person' act. Let's be honest here. PLUS, Swanpride didn't 'attack' you, (heck, she didn't put in a SINGLE COMMENT directed to you. It was public, and directed to everyone.) and neither did Jessikaroo. They both expressed their opinions in a peaceful way. Me and Mongoose09 may be a bit aggressive, but only because your putting in acts and immaturity.

@Jessikaroo -Oh it's not, JUST YOU.

Swanpride picked mulan:
I'm with Jessikaroo...it's between Mulan, Cinderella and PatF for me, not because I think that the animation is bad, but because I think the other movies are more inventive and more important in regard of how animation is used and perceiven nowadays. And perhaps I'm a little bit unfair when I chose Mulan first out of the three movies, eypecially since the scene when China bows to her IS really impressive and at least somewhat inventive, but the way the number of the soldiers in this movie dwindles in some scenes just bugs me. It's the one flaw this movie has, imho.

And, btw, I'm easily the oldest here at the spot. Old enough to have seen all of those movies with the exception of Snow White on the big screen (no, not THAT old, I have watched Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty during their last rereleases). So I know exaclty how it is to watch this movies the way they are supposed to be seen.

It is no secret that I like a good natured discussion. But calling Sleeping Beauty plain - that has nothing to do with respecting each other opinions, because this isn't a matter of opinion at all, one just has to look at the animation to see if it's plain or not. You just have to take one look at the backgrounds of Sleeping Beauty to see that the animation is incredible detailed and everything but plain. I get "the colours are so dark", I get "the lack of perspective irritates me", I would even get "I don't like green" or "why are the trees not round?", but plain means for me "not many details to look at", so I don't thinkt that this is an adequate description of the animation. Calling it plain that's like saying that Cinderella looks "cramped" or that Tangled looks "one dimensional", or that Pocahontas looks "grey". It's somewhat funny when the same person praises the animation in Aladdin, considering that a lot of the animation there was inspired by the work for Sleeping Beauty, especially the design of Jafar is very much remiscient to Maleficent.

And you know what, I originally thought that you chose the word "plain" because you don't particulary like the movie and therefore made your judgement based on a faint memory, or on the darker scenes which really need a big screen or a high quality TV in order to show off all the details which went in them. But if you seriously believe that the cheaply made direct to video Disney Sequels have a better animation than any of the Disney Princess Movies, which have always shown off the best Disney has to offer animation wise, then you are not someone I want or can discuss animation with. It's like saying the Twilight is better than Shakespear.

And stop playing the victim...you were way more insulting, on a very personal level, in this discussion than any of the other participants. If you weren't a long time member, I would have thought that you are a troll who tries to stir up the community a little bit.

I still can't stand this animation. Dark, plain, boring.... The others are way more impressive. Mulan? I think Mulan has a pretty unique animation. Beautiful landscapes, and character designs.
In Sleeping Beauty Aurora's pink-blue gown is the only good thing.

fiina picked Princess and the Frog:
Like someone said last round about Mulan there are some soldiers which are just copy-paste scene to another, same thing with people in imperial city but reason to that was that they were running out of time and directors had to improvise. I think it was quite smart and not too bad solution to the problem but have people notice Princess and the Frog used exactly same thing with random characters? Just look the people who e.g. listens jazz, same persons when Naveen play at beginning and when Louis play on riverboat. Also the girls who rotate around Naveen are really dull looking and I think bad animated. They are like mix between the animation in Almost There and the normal one. Beside I don't like water in the movie, it's looks too much like computer animated. Backrounds look partly like paper or veil to me, maybe they used too much computer again. In comparison with Mulan I find Mulan way better, I love its animation. Characters in Mulan looks the whole time same unlike some earlier movies and every line and move looks just perfection. That's my opinion, whenever you agree or not.

And then I'm going to dig my own grave. I wouldn't vote Sleeping Beauty yet same reason why I don't vote Snow White. To the time them were made it was amazing feat, especially Snow White. Sleeping Beauty was made to different film which have more details and animators job was really hard, they got only three pictures ready in a day which means one second takes almost weeks job. That new film make it special but it was still a flop. There reason why it's one of kind, because it wasn't so practical. I don't actually like its animation PARTLY, the second half movie looks too rushed made. It's actually is that one scene when Aurora sings which is so beautiful that it makes this movie rise in my list.

Mulan's animation is just so-so, not bad, better than some other non-Disney animation, but compared to other Disney movies it is not the best. The other DP movies have better animation. I even think Mulan herself the least pretty of 2D DPs. The scenery didn't impress me. On the other hand, when I watched about China (the real country) on TV, I was always impressed by how beautiful the land of China is. Disney didn't capture the scenery of China well enough.

Sleeping Beauty has great animation! First I thought the movie was boring, but then I think I should be objective and not judge a movie because of its boring storyline. Just notice the details in the forest when Aurora and Phillip are dancing. Aurora herself is drawn in a very beautiful way. Even her mother isn't less pretty than herself. Also notice the stone walls of the castle. It looks very lifelike.

I think they all have great animation. I was leaning towards Mulan but it has some really impressive scenes. So I have to go with Pocahontas. It has some amazing backgrounds and the Colors of the Wind sequence and the Savages sequence are amazing, but of the remaining ones this is the one I like the least.

BRAVO TO SWANPRIDE'S, HAJIRAH4 AND JESSIKAROO'S COMMENTS

I think it's a complete and utter insult to the animators of Sleeping Beauty to call it "plain" and *especially* to say that "most Disney sequels" have better animation than SB when clearly so much time, detail and effort went into animating SB and 99% of Disney sequels have completely half-assed animation that you can tell lacked effort, detail and precision. Sleeping Beauty is my least favourite DP movie and I don't think I've ever defended it as much as I am here.

Once again, it's fine if the style isn't to your taste or if you just don't like the animation at all (though just because you dislike it, it doesn't automatically mean the animation is bad). I always try not to call people's opinions stupid, they are subjective, but to say it has worse animation than most DP sequels is completely foolish IMO.
Oh and I just saw the list of sequels that KataraLover made in the other poll that apparently have "better" animation than Sleeping Beauty - I cringed at most of them, but Enchanted Christmas having better animation than SB? lol, honestly, that's perhaps the most biased thing I've ever heard. I am dying from the bias here. Just because you prefer the animation (which is fine) it does NOT make it better, objectively-speaking.

~Oh and I've known KataraLover for years and he has always been a hypocrite. Nothing new or surprising there.

To illustrate my point about the details:
link
link
The woods are drawn so detailed, you can see the leaves.
link

link

The cottage are full of wood carvings - I don't even want to imagine how much work went into adding all those swirrels into the background.

link

They could have simply done the golden pattern and be done with it, but no, they also the light blue patterns into the mix.

link

Again, the details are stunning...compare that to any other meal served in any other Disney movie. The table is overflowing, even though most of the stuff on it is never needed in the movie.

link

You can not only see every single stone, but also the texture of them.

link

Even in the dark, they didn't get lazy. They put the same work and detail in the villains lair, despite the fact that a lot of it is nearly dark in the movie (hence my remark that you miss a lot of details if you watch the movie on an old TV screen. It just doesn't have the quality to really show of the details).

link

And a last one, just that you can see how structured the design is. No copy and paste, every location has it's own pattern of thorns (or leaves).

^ Thank you. I have never in my life seen an animated movie that's drawn like Sleeping Beauty. Very impressive and deserves to be in the top 5 IMO. It's just so unique and detailed.

I think people are just choosing their least favourite as opposed to "impressive" which the question asks.
