I think so.
The main problem I had with this movie was that it didn't have that classic, easy-to-follow, good vs. evil fairy tale flow. It was almost like a live-action movie that happened to be animated. It was realistic and in a fairly recent setting. Also, I think a lot of kids would really wonder what Dr. Facilier is trying to accomplish. Most villains have a simple thing they want: kill the heroine, rule the world etc. His motives sort of changed as the movie went along and there was just a lot happening.

I know that I didn't quite understand what was going on when I was younger.

Some younger children don't know anything about the discovery of the New World or anything like that. Pocahontas would confuse them the most. They would most likely understand it when they're older.

I personally always understood Pocahontas and was able to enjoy it. I knew that they were from different worlds and that falling in love was against the rules. I think Disney did an excellent job with that storyline.

Haha same.
There is just so much going on. The other ones are very straight forward...even Pocahontas. The first three are so easy for kids to grasp: evil lady doesn't like nice young girl, she tries to ruin nice young girl's life, nice young girl finds prince, the end. then the nineties ones became a little thicker, with more substance but were still easy to follow.

I understood Pocahontas aswell, but as far as Disney movie go it's still the most complex for me. If there's one movie that a kid is gonna be confused about, it'd be Pocahontas. Now if this was Disney movies overall then I'd definately choose Hunchback of Notre Dame.

idk i think kids born in the 00's might be so used to everyone being equil, and theres a war going on now and alot of women are in it, so they might not understand why Mulan can't be in the army. But I mean like ages 2-5, older kids would probably know a little more about history.

I think people underestimate the thinking power of kids, but people do have to remember that these arnt just "kid" movies they are "family" movies. So some might be over the heads of the really little ones. I dont remember the movie, but in the movie the couples kids are watching " Peter Pan" and then one decides to stand on the dresser and try to " Fly". LOL, not funny really , but thats kids.

Uhhh, I guess Pocahontas. The movie came out when I was 6. Did I understand what was going on at that age?

I can't remember my reaction while I was watching it in theatres. I just remember on my way home talking about 3 guys getting shot. Though I said they died, even though John Smith was obviously alive at the end. XP And my sister correcting me by saying John Smith only got hurt.

Maybe I understood it better when I was 7 and learned about racism. Either way, I was crazy about Pocahontas when I was 6 so maybe I must've known what was going on, neh? *scratches head*

I didn't quite catch what Dr Facilier wanted and maybe his plan wasn't explained that well from the start. Well, I mean, in the beginning of the movie, it did show that Charlotte's dad paid a little paperboy a bunch of money while Dr. Facilier barely got a measley coin from some guy.

So he wanted to get rich, I guess. How he'd do it? I don't know. By having someone pretend to be Naveen and marry Charlotte? And then they'd share the wealth? It doesn't show that he wanted to kill Charlotte's dad until the end, neh? When he was pointing the needle at the voodoo doll of him at Charlotte's wedding. I don't fully understand the plan. Maybe I wasn't listening.

Besides that, The Princess and the Frog seemed simple enough. It's another Brother Bear, getting turned into an animal, going on a journey to change yourself back, meet a couple of silly characters, learning the value of love. Hell, Tiana was even willing to stay a frog to be with the one she loved at one point.

Intense pic of Jasmine there :D. Yeah when I was a kid I always thought that Beast killed Maurice, that always scared me so I never watched it.

Also The Princess and the Frog.

I believe Dr Facilier main goal was to be rich, but he had a debt to pay and he promised his Friends from the other side New Orleans. I think Charlotte's dad was one of the most powerful and richest men in New Orleans, so all Facilier had to was have someone he could control to marry Charlotte, kill her father after the marriage, and then he would get the money and the power.

I always thought the bit on the Wedding ship was confusing for children.
Pocahontas is very easy to understand. You don't have to know about the new world to understand it. I got it straight from the off.
